Risk world map 2025: Where vacationers should be careful!
The "Risk Map 2025" offers a comprehensive overview of the safety of travel countries and shows which destinations should avoid vacationers. Developed by the A3M Global Monitoring GmbH or download as a PDF. The PDF document uses a color scale to display the security situation of the individual countries. This important source of information is regularly updated and takes into account factors such as incoming and departure conditions, political unrest, as well as natural and environmental dangers.
The security levels range from dark green, which stands for very low risk and enables travel without restrictions to red, where travel is urgently advised. Between these two extreme levels, countries are divided into light green (low risk), yellow (potential risk) and orange (higher risk). The travel countries that are classified as securely include Central Europe, Canada, the USA and Australia, Uruguay, Argentina, Namibia and Botswana. In contrast, Central Africa, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Syria, Ukraine and Russia are considered highly dangerous.
special uncertainties in 2025
A number of areas have already been identified as particularly uncertain, including Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and Mali. Travelers are advised to consult the current risk and occupational instructions of the Federal Foreign Office before planning a trip. The "Safe travel"-app of the external office is available free of charge for Android and iOS and offers daily information on risks in different countries.
The risk ratings are not only based on the geopolitical conditions, but also take numerous other factors into account. These include the availability of means of transport, health situation in the target area as well as economic embedded risks such as corruption or industrial espionage. In addition, security in terms of violent crime and terrorist risk plays a crucial role in assessing the travel destinations.
Responsible travel
For travelers who want to visit risky areas, thorough precautions and security concepts are essential. The “Risk Map 2025” recommends special anti-theft backpacks as a tool to keep valuables safely and prevent potential risks. Popular travel destinations such as Turkey, Tunisia and South Africa also have yellow risk ratings that indicate increased but manageable risks.
Given the multitude of factors that influence the security of a travel destination, it is all the more important to start adventure well informed. Vacation locations that are considered safe not only offer a better travel experience, but also a calming feeling of security for travelers.
