Costa Fortuna: New party ship for Margaritaville at Sea!

In a significant move in the cruise industry, Costa Cruises has separated from Costa Fortuna. The most famous ship now becomes the third member of the Margaritaville at Sea fleet, as crucero-magazin.de reported. Margaritaville at Sea, launched in 2022 from the Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, is known for its party cruises that sail to the Caribbean and Mexico in the lively style of Margaritaville resorts.

Costa Fortuna will be the largest ship in the Margaritaville fleet, which already includes the former Costa Classica, now called “Paradise”, and the ex-Costa Atlantica, now called “Margaritaville at Sea Islander”. CEO Christopher Ivy emphasizes that the company's focus is on a unique, relaxed island atmosphere and award-winning hospitality.

Future plans for Costa Fortuna

The Costa Fortuna redevelopment project to Margaritaville design is being actively prepared. The ship, which was built for Costa Cruises in 2003, will continue to be operated as Costa Fortuna until September 2026 at the latest. Then it will offer travel from a yet-to-be-determined home port, such as cruiseandferry.net reported.

With a capacity of 3,450 guests and more than 1,340 cabins spread across 13 passenger decks, Costa Fortuna will also feature large outdoor spaces and an impressive eight-story central atrium. Your first trips with the new look are planned for summer 2026.

Adaptation to the market

With this sale of Costa Fortuna, Costa Cruises is reacting to the changing requirements in the market environment. The cruise operator has announced that future ship capacity will be more focused on modernized ships with a revised on-board offer. While Costa Fortuna will continue to operate various trips, including to Greece, Turkey and the Canary Islands, until mid-September 2026, the sale marks the transition into a new era for both travel brands.

So the 12-year-old Costa Fortuna will soon become part of a new fleet dedicated to offering unforgettable experiences in the Caribbean, with changes aimed at creating exceptional experiences and a relaxed atmosphere for guests.
