In a recent podcast called Truth or Trash, Steff recounted a violent encounter that occurred during a vacation in the Bahamas 20 years ago. During a late-night trip to a restaurant, the couple found themselves in a dangerous situation when their taxi driver turned onto a dark side street.

In this threatening environment, the two were surprised by armed men who appeared behind burning garbage cans. The taxi driver was brutally beaten to the ground with an iron bar while Steff instinctively jumped into the driver's seat to pull the taxi to safety. As they fled, gunfire was fired at the vehicle and Peggy lay terrified on the floor of the taxi as she screamed for her life. Thanks to instructions given by Peggy, they finally found a way back to the hotel. Despite the fact that she remained physically unharmed, Peggy Jerofke suffered psychological consequences for a long time, including distressing nightmares.

From terror to love

Peggy and Steff's turbulent relationship has taken many twists and turns in recent years. In November 2022, they announced their separation after a "long fight." Steff expressed in an RTL interview that both had developed in different directions, and Peggy noted that their different personalities led to tension.
