Rio de Janeiro: The most photogenic city in the world?

Rio de Janeiro: The most photogenic city in the world?

Rio de Janeiro is a lively, colorful and life -affirming city. Here we illustrate why it was the perfect end of our one -year trip around the world

We made ourselves comfortable in a small hostel on the Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is by far the worst accommodation that we have had for months. In contrast to the extremely beautiful pictures on the hostel's website, our bedroom is tiny, stuffy, stinking and inexplicably loud.

With an insane frequency, a loud fog horn booms through the water pipes and keeps us awake all night. We don't know what it is; Only that it drives us crazy.

This would be a bitterly cute end of our big journey around the world if Rio de Janeiro were not absolutely adorable.

like a Manic Dream Pixie Girl takes Rio on her hand and runs through busy streets that shine in the sunshine, soft beaches with beautiful people, high up and then down again until you ask you to stop, your hands on your knees.

rio de Janeiro is a pulsating, colorful, life -affirming city and, we dare to say, the most photogenic in the world. While we are preparing to return to our beloved hometown in the United Kingdom, we illustrate why we fell in love with thousands of kilometers in Rio.

rio de Janeiro: The essentials

was: City trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Where: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Decide for a hotel in Copacabana - we had problems in the Rio Deal B&B, but everything with a score of eight or more is usually enough.

When: Rio is great all year round. The notorious carnival takes place in February or early March and is a great time to experience the city's energy - but of course more expensive. It rains the most in December, while the temperatures rise from January to March. For gentle temperatures and fewer crowds, visit in May, June, September or October.

like: We only had two days in the city, so we booked the "Big Dude Tour" with Brazil Expedition, a problem -free way to see the city. The tour leads to a series of sights, including Christ the Redeemer, the Escadaria Selaron staircase, the Tijuca National Park and the lunch in Santa Teresa (not included in the price).

Our tour guide Estêvão was charming, helpful and very funny (although he was anything but impressed that we had spent a month in Colombia and not two weeks in Brazil - Sorry, Estêvão!).

The tour contains the collection and return of your hostel and offers the opportunity to be stopped at the sugar hat. The prices are $ 55 per person. Email info@brazilexpedition.com for bookings. You can fly from most major airports worldwide to Rio (booking via skyscanner.net).
