25 sail films when you are on the coast of what you should watch

We share some of our best sailing films, from Hollywood blockbusters and indie films to insightful documentation

I still hold on to the rather imaginative performance to sail at the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. Until I summarize the courage (and the means), I dealt with more realistic nautical escapades.

From Großsegler-Segeln off the west coast of Scotland to sailing to the Whitsunday Islands in Australia-more and more of our trips have taken place on the water.

However, until I made the leap from the weekend warrior to a blue water sailor, I have to be content with films, books and daydreams.

Against this background, I have put together a list of the best sail films that I saw. What follows is a wide mix of modernity and classical, indie and feature film, drama and documentary. Whatever your style, these films are wet and wonderful through and through.

And, I'm sorry for the pun, but ship happens.
