I am always looking for new outdoor challenges (to add you to my current Bucket List of climbing the Seven Summits and sailing in the Pacific Ocean). To complete some epic long -distance hiking trails sounds like the perfect challenge for me.

Below I list some of the best long -distance hiking trails from all over the world. From hiking to trail blazing, these perfect opportunities offer the wilderness, nature and seclusion that I long for so often.

How we define a long -distance hiking trail is clearly subjective. In the small old Great Britain, everything over 50 km (31 miles) is considered a "long distance"! For an international list, however, I laid the bar a little higher with at least 500 km (310 miles).

1. Appalachen path

 The "AT" is perhaps the most famous of the Triple Crown Trail in the USA and leads through no fewer than 14 states!

 2. Gr10 
 Location: France removal: 866 km (538 miles) Duration: 50-60 days

 This path runs along the Pyrenees mountain range from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean along the French-Spanish border on the French side.  A height difference of over 48,000 m (157,000 ft) including a light climbing passages awaits the hiker on the entire route.  Nevertheless, mountaineering or rope work is not necessary;  Only strong thighs and a lot of determination.

 3. Large Patagonian hiking trail

 the Te Araroa Trail (Maori for "Langer Weg") extends from Cape Reinga on the north tip of the North Island of New Zealand to Bluff at the southernmost tip of the South Island and is one of the latest long -distance hiking trails in the world. 
 On the way, hikers will probably come across some of the most diverse topographies in the world, including sandy beaches full of seals and penguins, flowering rainforests, active volcanoes, snow -covered Alpine mountains and emerald green glacier lakes.

 5. Rim of Africa Trail

 The Rim of Africa, the best of the young long -distance hiking trails in Africa, crosses the rugged Cape Mountain of South Africa.  The path begins at the height of Cederberg Wilderness Area north of Cape Town and ends in the northwest in the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains along the Garden Route. 
 The path follows old paths, existing hiking trails and remote, pathless combing lines and uses a number of "nine trusses" through remote and often inaccessible regions of the Cape Berges.

 6. Tōkai-natural teaching trail 
 Location: Japanese removal: 1,697 km (1,054 miles) Duration: 40-50 days

 One of the gentler and hillier long -distance hiking trails on this list leads from Tokyo to Osaka and crosses 11 prefectures.  The route leads past Japan's famous Fuji mountain as well as in many less well-known Japanese cultural and cultural sites as well as in wide areas of natural beauty.

 8. European long -distance hiking trail E1 
 Location: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy distance: 4,960 km (3,082 miles) Duration: Unknown

 Officially, nobody has completed the longest hiking trail in Europe, the E1-Weg, one of the 12 long-distance hiking trails shown by the European hiking association.  It extends from the North Cape (Nordkapp) in Norway to Scapoli in central Italy. 
 The path is briefly interrupted when he crosses the Kattegat between Sweden and Denmark with the ferry.  There are even plans to extend the path to the Italian island of Sicily.  Maybe someone should finish this before it gets bigger.  Any buyer?

 This is not the most epic long -distance hiking trail, but I wanted to add one that is more accessible to the British.  The South West Coast Path is Great Britain's longest hiking trail.  The total height, which was climbed during the hike, was calculated at 35,031 m (114,931 ft), almost four times as high as Mount Everest. 
 The path runs from Minhead in Somerset along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall to Poole Harbor in Dorset, which means that there are many ways to enjoy a bag of fish and chips.

  10. Large Himalaya path
