Vietnamese-Chinese friendship: The Red Journey begins!

Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China are celebrating a significant anniversary this year. The 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated on May 21, 2025. This is highlighted by various activities and programs aimed at strengthening long-standing friendship and cooperation. Today, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam is leading a program organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Chinese Cultural Center in Vietnam. The main goal of this program is to celebrate the memorial site and ties to President Ho Chi Minh.

As part of the celebrations, the “Red Tour of Vietnam-China Friendship in Guangxi” was presented. Ms. Lam Lam, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Guangxi Ministry of Culture and Tourism, introduced the topic and emphasized the importance of the historical relics, which reflect the revolutionary memory of the joint struggle of both nations. Thirteen such relics have been identified that deserve special mention, while the trip also includes six thematic tours that focus on the different needs of participants.

Cultural deepening and tourism promotion

This initiative particularly aims to target Vietnamese party members and young people. The tour aims to help bring history to life and provide immersive experiential tourism. Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the International Cooperation Department, highlighted Guangxi's cultural identity and cuisine. The route “In the footsteps of President Ho Chi Minh” symbolically represents historical and cultural tourism and offers participants valuable insights.

In addition, a cultural exchange program and a tourism introduction entitled “World Harmonious Tea – Nha Tap 2025” will be organized. Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Mr. Ha Vy underlined the long-standing friendship between the two countries, which has recently been evident through a significant increase in tourism: Guangxi already welcomed 41,800 visitors from Vietnam in the first five months of 2025, an increase of 88% compared to last year.

Successes in exchange and joint security efforts

The success of the diplomatic efforts is also confirmed by the 9th Việt Nam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange. According to Deputy Minister of National Defense Lieutenant General Hoàng Xuân Chiến, the event, which took place on April 16-17, 2025 in Lạng Sơn Province in Vietnam and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China, was very successful. This event took place shortly after Xi Jinping's state visit to Vietnam and marked 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The joint event included visits to border management units, schools and distribution of gifts to students. Participants had the opportunity to view a model of a smart border gate and plant friendship trees. For the first time, the two ministers monitored a live report of the naval fleets of both countries to strengthen cooperation on joint patrols. The new aspects of the exchange were also highlighted, including the expansion of the scope and form and a variety of activities.

Overall, these programs reflect the two countries' proactive efforts to build a comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership and strengthen their shared future.
