Jumping to Japan: Kübelberg rope skippers are looking for help!
Five talented rope skippers from TV Kübelberg have qualified for the World Championships in Kawasaki, Japan. Annalena Penk, Helene Wemmert, Chantalle Ludes, Arlinda Qoroviqi and Selina Tynek are the athletes who now have to prepare for this important competition. In order to finance their trip to the World Cup, the athletes rely on support. This challenge is particularly evident as the costs of participating in the World Cup are significant.
A Saturday morning in the gymnasium of the Schönenberg-Kübelberg elementary school was the place where they could focus on their goal. At the same time, the TV Roringen team also qualified for the World Cup. The rope jumpers there also have to raise financial resources to complete the journey. As part of a call for donations via Gofundme, TV Roringen is aiming to collect 10,000 euros to cover the high costs.
High cost of travel
Participation in the World Cup entails high expenses, estimated at around 3,000 euros per person. This sum includes the costs for the national team uniform, meals, flights and accommodation. One reason for the high expenditure is that the sport of “rope skipping” is not an Olympic sport and therefore does not receive any financial subsidies from the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB). This challenge is a significant consideration for many athletes, including the TV Kübelberg participants.
The TV Roringen jumpers have already achieved impressive successes at the last World Championships in Colorado, USA. They won two world championship titles and a runner-up championship. The 2024 European Championships in Hungary were also a complete success; The team was able to win a gold and a silver medal there. Fifth place in the medal rankings is a significant target for the two clubs, with preparations now intensifying.
Support for the athletes
The TV Kübelberg athletes hope for generous support from the community to make their dreams of the World Cup in Japan come true. The team from Roringen, which has over 50 athletes training every week, also relies on help, as many talented people are on the waiting list to receive professional training. Astrid Reinhardt, who has been offering rope skipping for over two decades, motivates the young athletes to continually improve their skills.
The World Championships in Japan will take place from July 27th to August 3rd, 2025 and will be a unique experience for all participants. At the moment, until the deadline on April 19, 2025, 4,651 euros have already been collected for TV Roringen's appeal for donations. The hope remains that the two teams will achieve the necessary resources to undertake the journey and show their passion for the sport on the international stage.
