Table tennis boom in Da Nang: Sport as a magnet for tourism in 2025!

The 43rd Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship in Da Nang has the potential to not only promote the sport but also strengthen local tourism and communication. This reports Vietnam.vn. In the tourist city, sport is increasingly seen as a key to improving the image and driving visitor traffic.

Between 15 and 20 national and international sports tournaments take place in Da Nang every year, attracting interest from domestic and foreign athletes as well as companies and organizers. This year's championship recorded the participation of 22 delegations with over 200 athletes and provides an example of the effective linking of sport, tourism and the local economy.

MICE tourism on the rise

Da Nang is also experiencing strong growth in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, especially towards the end of the year. The variety of events goes beyond classic meetings and includes innovative tours and wellness experiences, such as Danang Fantasticity highlights. This makes Da Nang a particularly attractive destination, especially in the off-season.

The city's strategic location between the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Hoi An and Hue, as well as the abundance of 5-star resorts on the coast, contribute to its increasing popularity as a MICE center. Events and incentive activities attract guests from various countries, with a focus on markets such as Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia. In November, the Indochina Unique Tourist Co. welcomed a delegation of 500 guests from the S.C.S Shoes Group, a leading shoe manufacturer from Thailand.

Investments in sports infrastructure

The Tien Son Sports Palace, the venue for the table tennis championship, is an example of Da Nang's continued investment in sports infrastructure. These professional and trustworthy events also attract journalists who present the city and act as tourism ambassadors. The close cooperation between various institutions ensured that the tournament ran smoothly and is seen as another strong argument for hosting large sporting events in the city in the future.

The Vietnam Tourism Authority is also developing supportive policies to promote MICE tourism and underline PLANS FOR the professionalization of the sport. This approach aims to position Da Nang as a leading MICE center in the country.

Overall, the combination of sports, attractive leisure activities, and a solid tourism infrastructure will continue to grow the city of Da Nang on all levels and attract both local and international visitors.
