Dat Taw Gyaint Wasserfall (Anisakan Falls) Complete Guide
The DAT TAW Gyaint Wasserfall, also known as anisakan Falls, is a magical waterfall with a blue, natural and refreshing swimming hole. Embedded in the bottom of a jungle gorge is this waterfall next to a small temple and is one of the best hidden jewels in Myanmar.
If you visit Mandalay or Pyin oo Lwin, I strongly recommend that you choose the half -day trip to this waterfall in Myanmar, which you absolutely have to visit. In this guide, I will describe in detail how you come here and what you expect after your arrival.
Book your trip to Mandalay
cheap flights bay you still in the planning phase of your trip? At the moment the best and easiest way to find cheap flights is to use a flight price search engine such as Momondo and Skyscanner. Between the two you will always find the cheapest flight, all over the world.
tip: If you are flexible in terms of time, look for "whole month" to display a calendar result with the cheapest flight days. Book your accommodation for hostels, hotels, pensions or resorts between Booking.com and Agoda, you always get the best offers. I always look for the card function to find accommodation in the best places. Sometimes, if I want to stay in one place a little longer, I use Airbnb.
tip : For the best hostels I usually compare reviews on hostelworld and then check other booking sites to compare prices and offers. Tours and transport booking already know that I prefer independent trips. Sometimes it is the best and cheapest way to do things, just book a tour or package. For Myanmar I always use Klook and Viator. The cheapest way to get from place to place in Myanmar are by far. The latest prices and routes can be found on 12Goasia. Do not forget adventure travel insurance If you read this blog, you are probably more looking for adventures with a sip at the pool. After my entire bag was stolen in Barcelona, I swore to always take out travel insurance. My two favorite options for adventure travelers are safewing and World Nomads. How to get to the DAT TAW Gyaint Wasserfall (Anisakan Falls)
The waterfall dat Taw Gyaint is located on the street from Mandalay to Pyin oo Lwin near a small village called Anesakhan. As usual with translations from Burmese to English, there are a variety of ways to spell these names with the English alphabet. In order to reflect his home village, this waterfall has earned a more frequently used nickname: Anisakan Falls. However, you will find that the waterfall somehow got a different spelling.
Regardless of this, it is easy to find this waterfall if you connect the following: Dat Taw Gyaint Waterfall in Google Maps. Or just follow the instructions for the PIN below.
Rent a motorcycle
The region between Mandalay and Pyin oo Lwin is best explored by renting a motorcycle and driving here. You can rent a motorcycle in Myanmar by talking to your hotel staff or owner. You will usually point them in the right direction.
The waterfall Anesakhan and Dat Taw Gyaint is only 9 km south of Pyin oo Lwin on Highway 3 (road to Mandalay). Therefore, it is the perfect short half -day trip from Pyin oo Lwin. The journey is fairly simple, along a single -lane motorway with little traffic.
For those who come from Mandalay, they have a much longer speed of 1.5 hours. However, if you are confident, I recommend you to face the challenge of seeing this epic waterfall.
For adventurous readers who are looking for a full -day waterfall trip, I would recommend visiting the Dee Doke waterfall. You can stuff both waterfalls on a big day trip by Pyin oo Lwin.
Read the complete guide to the Dee Doke waterfall.
TIP: If you plan to spend the night in Pyin oo Lwin, I recommend that you spend the night in The Tha Ha Ha Zar Ta Hotel. You will sort out these boys with your wheel set.

take a taxi or snap to Anesakhan
Since the waterfall dat Taw Gyaint is only a stone's throw from Pyin oo Lwin, it is possible to take a taxi or to stop it in the village of Anesakhan. The Google Maps-PIN below is a good point where you can get off because you have to cover the rest of the trip to the waterfall.

Waterfall hike
After you have parked your motorcycle or put it off in the top parking lot, it is a 40-minute hike downhill to the foot of the gorge to reach the waterfall. Apparently there are a few small food stalls and dealers who sell snacks and water on the way. However, they were abandoned when I visited them in the hot dry season.
The path down to the Dat Taw Gyaint waterfall is clearly marked and winds down the steep cliff before finally reaching the waterfall.
The hike is not too exhausting, but be careful to save some strength when you get back back!
What to expect at the waterfall dat Taw Gyaint
The DAT TAW Gyaint Waterfall was one of the best highlights of my trip to Myanmar. Three beautiful cascades fall down the limestone cliffs and form a large waterfall. Below are a deep swimming pool with milky, turquoise -colored water, comparable to the famous Kawasan Falls in the Philippines.
Next to the swimming pool is a large rock that is wonderfully suitable for sunbathing. The water in the waterfall basin is deep enough for swimming, but not deep enough for cliff jumps.

DAT TAW GYAINT Buddhist temple
Next to the waterfall is a small Buddhist temple. After seeing the waterfall dat Taw Gyaint first -hand, I know why you selected this place as a location for your temple.
When I came to visit in the hot season, the monks told me that I was the first foreigner in months! It only shows what a unique and underestimated jewel Myanmar really is!
