The Khun Korn waterfall hike is a short hike through a jungle valley to one of the most impressive waterfalls of Thailand. The Khun Korn waterfall is only a short trip from Thailand's northernmost city of Chiang Rai. In my opinion, visiting this waterfall is one of the best activities in Chiang Rai. In fact, visiting this waterfall was one of the main reasons why I decided to stay in the city longer.

How do you get the Khun Korn waterfall?

Since the hike to the Khun Korn waterfall is just outside the city, there are not many standard travel groups that visit this waterfall. Apart from that, there are some groups that stop by as an additional stop at the end of some Chiang Rai trekking tours.

In view of this, the best way is to get to the starting point of the KHUN Korn waterfall hiking trail, rent a motorcycle in Chiang Rai and drive here.

Their goal is the Khun Korn forest park, which is about 40 minutes from the city of Chiang Rai. Arrival is pretty easy if you follow the Google Maps PIN below.

You have to keep in mind that the first route of the journey is on busy roads, so it is a must to be safe on a motorcycle on Thai roads. After about 30 minutes of drive, turn on a winding forest road that you have to follow to the end of the street.

Here you can see a large parking lot and a rustic little restaurant where you can recharge your batteries after the hike. The starting point for the hike to the Khun Korn waterfall is about 50 meters from this parking lot and is marked by a small signposted forest opening.

The Khun Korn waterfall hike

As soon as you have reached the starting point, it is only a short 1.5 kilometer hike until you reach the waterfall. The path is relatively flat and leads past high -towering bamboo forests and scattered banana perennials.

Thailand's most impressive waterfall?

There is no doubt that the Khun Korn waterfall is one of Thailand's most impressive waterfalls. The huge, 70 meter deep waterfall tears through the upper jungle plateau and falls into a flat but floating freshwater pool.

At the foot of the waterfall there is a flowing drain that winds up several large boulders. We sat here for about an hour, enjoyed the scene and tried to take a few pictures.

Depending on the season, the Khun Korn waterfall could possibly become a dangerous place for a visit, especially after excessive downpours. You have to decide for yourself whether you can swim here or not.

Spend the night - accommodation leader

My accommodation in Chiang Mai: Grace Hostelgrace Hostel was actually one of my favorite hostels in Nordthailand. The free breakfast is great. Although it is just outside the city center, the friendly owner can drive them to the markets or the bus station free of charge.

Highly rated guest house: suantung guest house This is one of the best rated budget guest houses in Chiang Rai. It is super central, just a few minutes' walk from the night market and the clock tower and the bus stop.

The cheapest dormitory in Chiang Rai: Bar 184 Party Hostelbar 184 has dormitories for less than $ 5 per night, which is the cheapest one you will find in Chiang Rai. If you are looking for party mood at a low price, this is the place for you. These boys also organize motorcycles if they want them to drive to the Korn Korn waterfall.
