Pam Bok Waterfall Pai is a small but worthwhile waterfall located just a stone's throw from the peaceful mountain town of Pai in northern Thailand.

Pam Bok Waterfall is a great waterfall for swimming, exploring or just relaxing in the beautiful jungle canyon.

How to get to Pam Bok Waterfall Pai

The best way to get to Pam Bok Waterfall is to rent a scooter in Pai and drive 20 minutes to the parking lot in front of the waterfall.

The road is very scenic and passes rice fields, jungles and traditional agricultural allotments along the way. If you prefer to take a day trip, then I recommend visiting the Bamboo Bridge after a stop at Pam Bok Waterfall.

Entrance to Pam Bok Waterfall costs 40 baht per person. Before 2019, the visit was free. This new fee is perhaps due to the influx of tourism Pai has received in recent years.

Once you arrive at the parking lot, there is a military officer who works for the National Parks who will take your payment and give you a paper receipt.

Although it is not the largest or most picturesque waterfall in Thailand, Pam Bok Waterfall is still a worthwhile visit for travelers in Pai. From the parking lot, you'll walk 10 minutes along a scenic jungle trail before finally descending into a rocky gorge.

You will see Pam Bok Waterfall flowing gently into a moderately deep pool within the circular gorge. Depending on conditions, it may be possible to climb to the right side of the canyon for a small, sneaky jump. However, you have to be careful as it is slippery and always remember to check the depth before jumping.

Although not as popular as some of the other waterfalls in Pai, Pam Bok Waterfall still receives a good share of foot traffic from organized tours.

Secret back route

Although there isn't much information online, I was told to look for a secret path that leads to some deeper pools at the back of the waterfall.

I was able to find it immediately to the right before you head down the rocks to the bottom of the gorge in front of the waterfall. Follow this path up and down, paying attention to the steep spots. Soon you'll descend back down to the top of Pam Bok Waterfall, where you'll have some swimming holes and an entire river area to yourself!
