Vietnam's culture in focus: training on preserving historical treasures!
A training course to improve awareness and expertise in the field of cultural heritage impact assessment will be held in Vietnam in the second or third quarter of 2025. The aim of this initiative is to sustainably increase the quality of human resources for employees in the cultural sector. A total of around 150 participants are expected, including civil servants and public employees from the ministries of culture, sports and tourism, as well as local employees and administrative boards of museums and historical relics. Vietnam.vn reports that the training will include an exchange of experiences in the areas of management, protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
The training takes place in Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province. Representatives from the UNESCO office in Hanoi, several museums and relevant organizations will also take part in the course. The Ministry of Cultural Heritage is responsible for managing and coordinating the entire event. A particular focus is on creating a close connection between theory and practice in the management, preservation and promotion of historical and cultural relics.
Goals and focus of the training
A key objective is to ensure the efficiency and targeted nature of the measures while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with state budget spending regulations. The aim of this training is to enable participants to better deal with the challenges in the cultural sector and to preserve the diverse values of cultural heritage.
The importance of cooperation initiatives in the promotion of culture and education is also highlighted by the recent collaboration between UNESCO and the SOVICO Group. Loud UNESCO has Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of SOVICO, emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation over ten years.
Strategic partnerships for culture
This partnership is committed to promoting Vietnam's cultural activities through the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and advancing educational programs such as the 'Happy School' program. The agreement aims to achieve sustainable development goals based on Vietnam's cultural, historical and traditional values and seek global influence for a better future.
Since 2020, SOVICO has already made significant contributions to two important UNESCO initiatives. The first initiative, “Mobilizing Cultural Dynamics and Youth Participation for the Ha Noi Creative Capital,” aims to engage youth in creative projects to revitalize the city of Hanoi post-pandemic, part of the “Viet Nam Creative Belt” strategy. A second initiative focuses on empowering youth and women to achieve stronger connections and greater local benefits at UNESCO World Heritage sites and creative cities in Vietnam.
UNESCO also provided SOVICO with advice on refining its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which is based on three pillars: Culture and Society, Education and Innovation, and Environment and Resilience. A new framework agreement will strengthen cooperation between UNESCO and SOVICO and ensure future initiatives in the areas of culture, education and other important fields.
