Vacation at a bargain price: These countries are cheaper than Germany!
The purchasing power comparison by the Federal Statistical Office shows that for German travelers, vacation costs in many southern and eastern European countries are significantly cheaper than in Germany. These findings, presented in a recent analysis, highlight which destinations are particularly attractive to travelers when it comes to accommodation and dining costs.
What is particularly striking is that the prices for holidays in Albania and North Macedonia are a full 52 percent below the German costs. This makes these countries the cheapest options for travelers. Bulgaria is also similarly attractive, with prices 51 percent lower. Montenegro, Portugal and Turkey follow closely behind with savings of 42 percent, 35 percent and 31 percent respectively compared to Germany.

Norway and Denmark represent another financial stumbling block, with vacation costs each 25 percent higher, while Sweden is just 8 percent more expensive.
The results of the analysis once again make it clear that travelers who pay attention to costs should primarily vacation in southern and eastern European countries.
