Attention of fake products: important warning for consumers!

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Vietnam has published an important message that calls for the population to take care of advertising formations, especially in terms of milk, medication, functional food and cosmetics. This warning is part of a comprehensive initiative, which was initiated on May 2, 2025 by the Prime Minister with the official notification No. 55/CD-TTG. The aim is to strengthen fake products, especially in the area of medication and health -promoting foods. The population in urban metropolitan areas such as Hanoi and Ho Chi-Minh-Stadt is particularly addressed to contain the spread of counterfeits.

The Ministry intends to improve support for telecommunications units by sending free text messages to users of mobile networks. These measures should sensitize people in the endangered provinces and help to raise awareness of the dangers of counterfeiting. The first messages will be delivered on May 30 and 31, 2025.

growing threat from fake products

The warnings are particularly relevant because fake products represent a worldwide billion dollar business that is often associated with criminal structures. Germany is a main target market for trade in illegal goods. An example is fake medication that are increasingly offered on the Internet, including fake weight loss injections such as Ozempic and Botox. These products are not only ineffective, but can also recover serious health risks, since they often contain no or the wrong active ingredients.

The European data show that medicinal products, which have been fake over 64 million euros, have recently been confiscated. It is worrying that many of these drugs are produced under unsanitary conditions. The use of fake products, especially in the health sector, can have life -threatening consequences. Consumers should only order with the EU security logo from officially registered online pharmacies and exercise special caution for shops without a prescription or questionable transparency.

raise awareness of product piracy

In addition to fake medication, fashion, cosmetics and toys are also frequent goals of counterfeiting gangs. Around a quarter of the 15 to 24 year olds have already bought deliberately fake products online. These counterfeits often contain carcinogenic chemicals or allergens and are not subject to secure EU requirements. The economic damage caused by product piracy is estimated in Germany at around 50 billion euros.

Combating the trade of fake products that is linked to organized crime remains a challenge for society. The reports of Europol and other authorities illustrate the urgency of this topic and underline the need to sharpen consumers' awareness and to take rigoros against violations. Consumers should therefore always be on the hat and understand the risks of the order of fake products.
