How to get to the monkey forest of Lombok

The monkey forest of Lombok, known as Baun Pusuk, is located on a mountain pass between the West and North Lombok.

To get here, it takes about 30-40 minutes from Senggigi with the motorcycle. You have the opportunity to take the southern route through rice terraces and small villages or the northern coastal route at the Malimbu Hill and the Epic Senggigi beaches.

Which route you also take, you are led inland and up to the mountainous foothills of Lombok. For an exact directions, enter "Pusuk Forest Viewpoint" in Google Maps

The street is steep with several curves and should therefore only be used by confident. If you want to see the Lombok monkey forest but do not want to drive, you can still book a Lombok tour to the Malimbu hill, the temple and the Lombok monkey forest for less than $ 38.

Baun Pusuk

Baun Pusuk is the name for this forest area of Lombok. Pusuk means approximately "summit" because the name is probably due to the viewpoint at the top of the mountain pass.

The height in the Lombok monkey forest is much higher than in the surrounding coastal cities, which thrives a thicker, rainforest -like flora. This makes it a perfect habitat for the local monkeys.

In the meantime, the monkeys in this area are already very used to human interaction. This is a double -edged sword, since sometimes they can become a little too confident. Remember when you drive or ride yourself, drive slowly because the monkeys often sit in the middle of the street.

Berg Viewpoint

Since I spent a lot of time to explore the island of Lombok, I had already seen a lot of monkeys. In fact, you can find them pretty much everywhere in the interior and occasionally even on the coast.

The Highlight of the Lombok Monkey Forest was the viewpoint for me. You can find it on the map above, where you can park your motorcycle and look down into the valley to the sea.

Senggigi accommodation

Accommodation in Senggigi

My accommodation in Senggigi: Oyo 645 Green Asrin Senggigi I stayed in this small hotel with pool, huge bathroom and TV for just $ 9 a night. I am not sure whether it was a special offer in the off-season, but it is definitely the best price-performance ratio in Senggigi for this price. It is a little off the main stroke, but it is definitely worth it. If you book here, don't miss Henry, the street dealer around the corner. He makes some of the best spice coffee I've ever tried and offers meals of the hotel class for 12,000 IDR.

Beach view of the sunset on the cliff for less than $ 40: Pasific Beach Cottages If I had a higher budget in Senggigi, this would be the place I would have booked. It is located on the coast near Senggigi Beach, where you can enjoy the view from your balcony or pool. With regard to the value, this is as good as you may find it all over Lombok.
