Almsommer 2025 starts with solid, music and workshops in the Salzburgerland!

The anticipation for the alpine summer in Salzburg's country is growing: on June 15, 2025, the official opening of the alpine summer takes place. This annual celebration in different regions is a proven highlight for locals and visitors alike. It begins after the alpine bustle of cows, horses, sheep and goats and offers a diverse program that includes music, hiking and handmade products from the Alm.

In Tiefbrunnau at the Laimmühle car park, the event starts at 9 a.m. with a hike together to the Lärchenhütte am Zwölferhorn. The official festival is celebrated there at 11 a.m. under the direction of Hüttenwirt Martin Oberlohr. The supporting program includes musical performances and delicious alpine delicacies that offer visitors an unforgettable experience.

cultural diversity and tradition

During the alpine summer, numerous events are on the program. In addition to hikes and musical sounds, cultural readings and workshops are also offered. Particular attention is paid to the traditional craft, which is demonstrated on site, such as the sticking of Pinzgauer fences or spiders of sheep's wool. The art of carving butter models, which is often passed on for generations, is also part of the opening ceremony. These richly decorated butter models show the origin of the albutter and are a sign of regional identity.

Various opening festivals in the entire Salzburg region will be held this year. A selection of the top events includes:

Region date event
Pinzgau 21. June 2025 stallion stallion in rauris
pongau 1. July to August 26, 2025 Alm: Classic in Bad Hofgastein
Pinzgau 11. July to September 5, 2025 Alm: Culture in Saalfelden Leogang
tennengau 5. until September 7, 2025 hayart in the Lammertal

Another custom that is cultivated during the alpine summer is the traditional solstice fire for the summer solstice. Fire are lit on the mountain peaks in the Salzburg region to drive away evil spirits and to greet the summer.

The alpine summer in Salzburg's country also promises to become a festival of the senses in 2025, which is deeply anchored in regional culture. The combination of traditional craftsmanship, culinary delights and sociable get -together creates a unique ambience for all guests.
