Tel Aviv, Israel - Andrea Kiewel, the popular moderator of the “ZDF television garden”, celebrated her 60th birthday in Spain on June 10, 2025. Instead of being solemn in Germany or Israel, she enjoyed the sun and the holiday atmosphere, while she visited the Sagrada Família in Barcelona and jumped into the hotel pool. She reported on her trip in a column for the Superillu magazine, in which she also shared thoughtful words about aging. Kiewel emphasized that she is grateful for her body and reflected on the company's youth craze.

Although Kiewel was far away that day, the "ZDF television garden" wanted to celebrate her 25th anniversary on June 15, 2025. However, due to the blocked airspace over Israel, she could not travel to Mainz, where the show took place. Instead, Joachim Llambi and Lutz van der Horst jumped in and took over the moderation. Llambi explained that Kiewel was doing well, but was sad not to be present. The audience in Mainz, consisting of around 5,000 to 6,000 spectators per shipment, donated an encouraging applause for the jubilee.

The "ZDF television garden" is broadcast weekly with audio description and subtitles and attracts around 100,000 live viewers every season. Nevertheless, Kiewel's absence remains a critical topic in the past few weeks, while she continues to deal with the situation around the blocked airspace.
