Announcement of our new role as Lonely Planet Trailblazers

We reveal the details of our new role as Lonely Planet Trailblazers, a partnership with the world's largest travel guide publisher

Those of them who have followed us since our early trip through the South Pacific will know that we have regularly worked with Lonely Planet, from taking over their Instagram account to the co-hosting of Twitter chats to the implementation of campaigns for third parties.

We had a lot of fun working with the online and social media teams from Lonely Planet and are pleased to be able to announce that we will work closer together as part of the new TrailBlazers program.

So what exactly is the TrailBlazers program and what will change at Atlas & Boots? In the following we will answer 10 reader questions.

1. What is the TrailBlazers program from Lonely Planet?

The trail blazer program integrates successful bloggers, vlogger, photographer and digital influencer to expand the range of content for the public of Lonely Planet.

Trailblazers is part of a more comprehensive Initiative called Pathfinder, a community of contributors, which is cultivated by Lonely Planet. Trailblazers is the top level of the Pathfinder program-something like the crème de la crème 🙂

2. How many trail blazers are there?

At the start there are seven blogs that were selected from a Pathfinder community of 3,000 as Lonely Planet Trailblazers.

The seven are:

  • atlas & boots (us!)
  • an adventurous world
  • Dan Flying Solo
  • Hopse the globe
  • in the travel laboratory
  • undistorted market
  • Fernweh Chloe

3. How were the trail blazers selected?

The trail blazers were selected by Lonely Planet at the discretion. Your Pathfinder homepage describes Trailblazer as people who know how to promote communities and who have built up a loyal audience that trusts their opinions and regularly deals with their content. We believe that we meet these criteria and are pleased that Lonely Planet does this too!

  • Paid operations and travel options
  • Contact with the global audience of Lonely Planet (online and about social media)
  • Hot desking in Lonely Planet's offices all over the world

5. What does Lonely Planet get away from it?

It may not be immediately apparent why Lonely Planet wants to pay us to cover exciting activities in distant places! It is important to understand that, although you have an extensive network of experts, you need more and more talented participants.

The TrailBlazers program enables you to report on the obscure places that we visit and the amazing things we do.

lonely planet names the following main advantages:

6. Are you paid to say positive things about Lonely Planet?

We are ambassadors of the brand, but we are not paid for telling people how great Lonely Planet is. Rather, we are paid to contribute content that Lonely Planet really makes great.

We said a long time ago (before Lonely Planet even knew who we were!) That we were fans of the brand. Now it will be part of our role to help him stay great.

7. Lonely Planet moves from the procurement of content by authors on site?

No. Regardless of the fact that we are authors on site, we will not write content for travel guides; This is still carried out by people who have well -founded knowledge of a country who cannot be acquired there in a month. Rather, we will expand the existing travel content from Lonely Planet by offering unique perspectives in new formats.

8. What will change at Atlas & Boots?

at Atlas & Boots nothing changes. We will still write about our personal experiences and observations. At the end of our articles we will add links to Lonely Planet leaders, but we have been doing this for a long time and certainly before we became Lonely Planet Trailblazers!

9. Can I become a trail blazer myself?

There is definitely an opportunity. You can start by joining the Pathfinder program. After that, you have to be an active part of the community and consistently produce high -quality content. As soon as you have reached a critical mass of fans or followers, you may be invited to become a trail blazer!

10. Do I have to know anything else?

only that we are super happy to be part of the program. Atlas & Boots has been our full -time job in the past three years and it is encouraging to receive recognition from the world's best known and most popular travel brand.

See you out there!
