Baerbock remains unaffected by entry bans – misinformation exposed!

The discussion about entry restrictions for the USA is currently in full swing, especially with regard to the trip of Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister. Despite false reports about an entry ban, Baerbock is still allowed to travel to the USA. The Foreign Office confirms this and contradicts reports that they have allegedly been placed on a “black list”.

How Focus reports, Baerbock remains able to enter the United States with a valid US visa. In addition, a new regulation came into force on June 9, 2025, which provides for entry bans for citizens from 19 countries. The focus here is on countries in Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean, although Germany is not affected.

Details about the entry bans

The entry ban completely affects nationals from twelve countries, including Afghanistan, Myanmar and Iran. Partial travel restrictions apply to another seven countries, such as Burundi and Cuba. These measures, introduced by US President Donald Trump, are supposedly intended to ensure the protection of US citizens from potential extremist threats, such as the daily news explained.

  • Vollständiges Einreiseverbot für:
    • Afghanistan
    • Myanmar
    • Tschad
    • Republik Kongo
    • Äquatorialguinea
    • Eritrea
    • Haiti
    • Iran
    • Libyen
    • Somalia
    • Sudan
    • Jemen
  • Teilweise Einschränkungen für:
    • Burundi
    • Kuba
    • Laos
    • Sierra Leone
    • Togo
    • Turkmenistan
    • Venezuela

These new travel restrictions could affect a broader group of people than previous regulations during Trump's first term. Rumors about possible extensions of entry bans to up to 36 additional countries also affect the debate. Visas already issued for the affected countries stood at around 170,000 last year, raising concerns that the new measures could have a significant impact on travelers.

Criticism and reactions

The introduction of these restrictions is generating a mix of approval and criticism both in the US and internationally. Democrats express concern about the isolation these decisions bring and warn of division. Some international voices, particularly from the affected countries, have sharply criticized the measures. While Somalia is willing to discuss solutions to security problems, Venezuela calls the US government fascist.

Given these developments, it remains to be seen what legal action will be taken against the new orders, similar to the legal battles previously associated with the so-called “Muslim Ban.” It remains to be hoped that the situation can be clarified quickly so that misunderstandings about entry requirements, as in the case of Baerbock, do not arise again.
