A93 between Regensburg and Ingolstadt: Massive construction work from May 2025!

From the end of May 2025, drivers on the A93 motorway between Regensburg and Ingolstadt will face challenges with extensive traffic restrictions. Loud tz.de Construction work begins to completely renew the badly damaged roadways. Road users must prepare for significant disruptions that will last for several months.

From May 23, 2025, there will be the first restrictions at the Bad Abbach junction in the direction of Regensburg. Drivers coming from Munich must continue to the Regensburg-Süd junction and then follow the necessary diversions via the B16. These diversions are part of the measures to ease traffic congestion during the renovation work.

Extensive construction work

The renovation work is necessary because numerous damage to the old concrete roadway was discovered in the southern section of the A93 near Regensburg. This damage required ongoing repair work, which is why the replacement of the concrete roadways with asphalt surfaces and the renewal of the roadway substructure to a depth of approximately 1.5 meters are planned. These comprehensive renovation measures extend over the entire route between Regensburg-Süd and the Saalhaupt triangle and are expected to last until mid-December 2025 autobahn.de notes.

Work began in April 2025 with the new construction of the eastern carriageway between the Saalhaupt triangle and the Regensburg junction. Difficulties will also arise from the need to adapt traffic routing, as traffic between the two directions will be redirected onto a roadway that will already be renovated in 2023. This could lead to an increased risk of traffic jams, especially in the direction of Regensburg/Hof.

Road restrictions and detours

After construction begins on March 23, 2025, there will temporarily only be one lane in the direction of Regensburg. Motorists are also asked to remain on the motorway during any traffic jams as there is no room for additional lanes due to the work zone. The exit from Munich at the Regensburg-Süd junction will remain closed until mid-May 2025; the alternative is via Bad Abbach.

Other restrictions include that it is not possible to cross from the A93 from Munich onto the A3 in the direction of Passau, so diversions will be signposted. These measures are intended to ensure that traffic flow can be made as smoothly as possible despite the extensive construction work.

The federal Autobahn GmbH encourages affected road users to consider alternative transport options and to avoid possible bottlenecks. The specified times are non-binding targets, so changes in the construction process cannot be ruled out.

These extensive renovation measures are essential to ensure long-term safety and comfort on this important transport route in Bavaria.
