Shock due to turbulence: Ryanair plane lands in Memmingen after an emergency!

A Ryanair passenger plane on the way from Berlin to Milan ran into severe turbulence over Bavaria at around 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2025. Due to these turbulent conditions, the aircraft had to be diverted to Memmingen. A total of eight people on board were injured during the incident, including seven passengers and one crew member, according to the Passauer Neue Presse reported.

According to initial reports, there was initially talk of nine people being injured, but the number of eight people affected was ultimately confirmed. Among the injured were a two-year-old child who had to be hospitalized with bruises, as well as a woman with a head laceration and another passenger who complained of back pain. Despite the massive turbulence, the plane landed on schedule after the captain requested medical assistance.

Shock and chaos on board

Eyewitnesses reported some dramatic scenes during the turbulence. Some passengers were thrown against the cabin ceiling, causing chaos on the plane. Photos taken of the situation show damaged ceiling panels and shaken travelers. A crew member burst into tears while a mother and her baby were in the onboard toilet during the turbulence. Many passengers were unsecured because there was apparently no request to wear a seat belt, which made the situation worse.

The southern Bavarian air authority did not approve the plane's onward flight, which is why Ryanair arranged for most of the passengers to travel on buses to Milan that night. A replacement flight was organized that morning to transport the passengers.

Weather conditions and other operations

On Wednesday, violent thunderstorms in large parts of Bavaria caused numerous police and fire service operations, which were deployed on around 200 missions in total. In view of these circumstances, the Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry (BDL) recommends that you remain strapped in your seat during turbulence in order to avoid possible injuries. This could also prevent future incidents like this 20 minutes impressively presented.

The police and Ryanair have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident to clarify further details and ensure that such dangerous situations can be avoided in the future.
