Holiday feeling in Bavaria: Discover the Italian hotspots!

The longing for the Italian lifestyle is reflected in many Bavarian cities. More and more people from Bavaria are deciding to spend their free time in their own state to enjoy the southern European flair. Especially in summer, many people are drawn to the picturesque corners that Italy has to offer. Loud Mercury Munich is a city that impresses with its Italian character. Around 28,000 Italians live here, which gives the city a special southern European accent. The Feldherrnhalle, which was modeled on a loggia in Florence, as well as the Nymphenburg Palace Park, where a gondolier from Venice delights visitors with his gondola, underline this Italian influence.

Wasserburg am Inn, which is known as the Bavarian Venice, particularly attracts visitors with its arcades and pastel-colored houses. The city is almost completely surrounded by the Inn, making it an excellent destination for a day trip. Lindau on Lake Constance, also known as the “Bavarian Riviera”, also offers a wonderful setting with Bavaria’s only lighthouse and Italian charm.

Italian delights in Neuburg an der Donau

Neuburg an der Donau also shines with Italian flair. The architecture in the city is influenced by the Italian Renaissance, especially the residential castle, which is reminiscent of the castles of Tuscany. The opening of a new Italian restaurant, the La Perla restaurant, further reinforces this impression. The restaurant, which focuses on fresh, seasonal and regional Italian cuisine, offers a diverse menu. These include, among other things, various pizza variations, fish and seafood specialties, as well as traditional pasta dishes and homemade desserts, as reported on the restaurant's website ( Restaurant La Perla ).

Particularly popular is the piadina, an in-house creation that is reminiscent of the Turkish Dürüm, consisting of pizza bread, salad and a selection of different toppings. The sauces and remoulades in the restaurant are all made in-house, which underlines the fresh and authentic flavors. The culinary experience is complemented by a careful selection of Italian wines, including Bardolino Classico, Villa Gorizzo Friuli Grave Merlot and Lugana Vigne Alte.

A real treat in Bad Reichenhall

Also worth mentioning is Bad Reichenhall, known as the “Merano of the North”. Mediterranean architecture and palm trees can be found here, and numerous Italian ice cream parlors also create a southern atmosphere. A special highlight is the graduation house, which offers visitors a salty sea breeze and thus brings the atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast to the north.

The Bavarian cities show that you can also go on vacation in your own state, which embodies the southern European lifestyle. The Italian influence is omnipresent here and gives the places a special charm.
