Visiting the Innot Hot Springs in Queensland - travel guide
A short visitor guide with everything you need to know about the Innot Hot Springs near Ravenshoe, Queensland.
Travelers who visit the tropical North Queensland are usually overwhelmed by how many epic things there are to do and see! At first glance, most will not believe that this incredible Region even has hot sources!
In this short guide, I will guide you through everything you need to know if you are planning to visit these great hot springs in the Atherton Tablelands (Queensland, Australia).
About the hot sources of innot
The Innot Hot Springs are of course heated geothermal pools on the Nettle Creek in the Atherton Tablelands. Even if I don't want to disappoint you by saying that this is "world-class" springs, that's simply not the case. However, what awaits you is a warm, natural bathroom without paying a cent!
Are the hot springs from Innot free? Yes, access to the Innot Hot Springs in Queensland is free. However, you can spend the night in the leisure and camping park of the hot springs, which is located next to the sources.

How do I get here
These sources are located on Kennedy Highway between the Townships Ravenshoe and Mount Garnet. Expect a long ride of more than 2 hours when you come from Cairns.
A visit to the Innot Hot Springs is a good idea if you want to explore all the great activities in the Tablelands. This is because these sources are a great place to relax after a long day on which they explored the waterfalls of the nearby Millaa Millaa or the incredible Tully Gorge.
For those who do not have a car, you can book a full-day 4WD Tablelands and Chillagoe tour from Cairns that also stops at the sources.

What to expect from the Innot Hot Springs
When you arrive at the Innot Hot Springs for the first time, you will find a large parking lot right in front of the campsite. When you go down to the stream from here, you often see many people swimming in the warm, natural sources.
While the water level depends on the latest rainfall, you can usually go up a piece of stream up to find a decent pool. However, be careful, some of the flat pools can get up to 75 degrees hot!
We were told by a local who has used these pools all his life that is more than enough in these pools for an hour or so. This is because they are very rich in minerals and that they can dry out a little if they stay with it too long!

Innot Hot Springs accommodation
As I mentioned above, there is a campsite at the Innot Hotsprings that offers parking spaces for camper. This is a dog -friendly park, but dogs are not allowed in the pools.
They offer parking spaces with and without performance for motorhomes and caravans.
In addition, visitors are given access to facilities such as a pool and a naturally heated spa.
It is best to just stop by and book a website or call it in advance.

The pub of the hot source
Another highlight that is often addressed is the picturesque little pub called Hot Springs Hotel right next to the sources. This pub is nothing special, but it has character!
The legend of the Aborigines
The Mamu's indigenous people have a DreamTime story about the Innot Hot Springs. They believe that the sources were created when a large turtle had a hot stone in their stomach and wore it upstream from the sea to heat the water.
