Colorful festival in June: Bochum-Ost celebrates Citizens' Week!

In June 2025, Bochum expects a variety of exciting events that will attract both locals and visitors. From readings to parties to festivals, the entire city covers a wide range of activities.

One of the highlights is the reading with the author Rasha Khayat, which will take place on June 4th in the Bochum town hall. She will present her new novel “I’m Not Coming Back” from 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for 5 euros at the Bochum Tourist Information Center. The 80s party follows on June 6th in the Bochum Theater. Here guests can feast in 80s style and enjoy the disco dance night accompanied by live singing. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Versatile entertainment program

Another attractive offer are the beer and wine tastings on the winding tower of the German Mining Museum. A beer tasting with BBQ will be held on June 6th, while a wine and dine event with sommelier and buffet will follow on June 13th. The Citizens' Week East, which takes place from June 11th to 17th under the motto "Citizens meet each other - we get involved", is also part of the program and includes numerous activities by clubs, schools and institutions. Bochum Journal highlights that the city festival, in its 45th edition, includes the districts of Laer, Werne and Langendreer.

The celebration in Laer begins on June 5th at 3 p.m. on Lahariplatz. The program on this day includes magic shows, belly dancing and hands-on activities for children. The opening will also be held at 4:30 p.m. by district mayor Dirk Meyer and mayor Gabriele Schäfer. June 6th is dedicated to Werne, where various musical performances and an ecumenical service will take place on the market square from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The remainder of Citizens' Week leads to color shows, local offerings and a variety of culinary delicacies on offer in the city. The “Bänke raus” festival on June 9th in Langendreer, which offers numerous activities for families, is noteworthy.

In addition to Citizens' Week, numerous other exciting events take place in Bochum. The Hipgold Festival will be celebrated in Bochum-Linden from June 14th to 16th, bringing food trucks with international cuisine to Hattinger Straße.
