Burgerenaden in Bochum: Experience baroque music from Caterva Musica for free!

Brockhauser Straße 74a, 44879 Bochum, Deutschland - On Sunday, June 1, 2025, an outstanding concert will take place at 5 p.m. in the Stiepeler village church, Brockhauser Straße 74a at the "Burgerenaden" concert series. The ensemble "Caterva Musica" will perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann. The motto of the concert "Father - Son - Gate!" promises an exciting and sonorous experience.

Entry to this special event is free, but donations are welcome to support the concert series. The castle lenses are made by the "Förderverein Haus Kemnade and Musical Instrument Collection GrumBt e.V." organized in cooperation with the cultural office of the city of Bochum, and since 2024 they have been an integral part of the regional cultural calendar. Traditionally, one of the four annual serads takes place in the Stiepeler village church, which makes this place a cultural center.

An emotional listening experience

The ensemble "Caterva Musica", which was founded in 1998 by Elke and Wolfgang Fabri, has developed into one of the leading baroque ensembles in Westphalia. The musicians act under the direction of the solo cellist Olaf Reimers and follow a historical performance practice that ensures an authentic listening experience. The members play on original or historically reconstructed instruments, which creates the special sound that does justice to the baroque age.

"Caterva Musica" has made a name for itself through regular concerts, including over 50 different concert programs. The five times annual appearances in Horst Castle in Gelsenkirchen are particularly noteworthy. One focus of the ensemble lies in cooperation with churches and choirs; They perform both chamber music and larger orchestral works, including passions and oratorios.

A versatile program

The program design of "Caterva Musica" is extremely varied. Starting with secular cantatas to smaller operas such as the intermezzo opera "Pimpinone" by Georg Philipp Telemann, a wide range is covered. The concerts are characterized by the high playful quality of the musicians who offer emotional and highly virtuoso performances.

Already at 3 p.m. on the same day there will be a tour of the Kulturhistorisches Museum Haus Kemnade, on Kemnade 10 in Hattingen. This offers visitors the opportunity to get in the mood for the evening and to learn more about the cultural treasures of the region.
