The insider tip at Frankfurt Airport: Luxury in the first class terminal!

Frankfurt Airport is not only Germany's largest airport, but also an international hub for travelers from all over the world. It impresses with its modern infrastructure and the ability to handle over 60 million passengers annually. A new documentary series from Hessischer Rundfunk entitled “In the Middle – Frankfurt Airport” now sheds light on exciting facets of the airport. The 15th season started with the 79th episode from April 2025, which follows Kaye-Ree Eftekhari, a personal assistant in the first class terminal. Eftekhari is responsible for looking after first class travelers and HON Circle members of Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines.

The first-class terminal, which opened 20 years ago, is exclusively accessible to certain passengers and offers numerous amenities. Eftekhari hopes to meet guests at the main entrance and take them to the club area after security. In this luxurious setting, passengers have access to a bar, restaurant, cigar lounge or even an office apartment. Eftekhari organizes the check-in for the guests and ensures that they are taken directly to the plane via the driving service.

Special guests and their service

A regular user of the first class terminal is Robyn Wensky, a 36-year-old Frankfurt businessman and Lufthansa HON guest. He visits the terminal once a week or every two weeks and is often on his way to Dubai. Wensky appreciates the individual service and routine he has built with the staff. For him, using the terminal is always a special experience, despite his frequent travels.

The exclusivity of the first-class terminal is also reflected in the number of passengers, which number several thousand each year, including stars, state guests, board members and billionaires. These frequent flyers, who fly at least 150 short-haul and 30 long-haul flights every year, are among the airline's best customers and are treated to high-quality food and drinks. The airport and its facilities are optimally designed to meet the highest demands.

Aviation fashion and logistics

In this context, the flight attendants' uniforms are also an exciting topic. For 20 years, the stewardesses of Austrian Airlines have been wearing a striking red uniform that includes a blazer, skirt, stockings and shoes. Each of these garments is subjected to careful washing and wearing tests as well as laboratory tests. Every year, over 16,000 new items of clothing are distributed to the crews, with each piece of uniform having to be individually adapted to the employees.

The documentary also discusses the logistics behind the airline clothing. A report describes one of the largest airline tailors in Europe, Hornschuch in Frankfurt. The production and distribution of the uniforms is accompanied by a flight with an Airbus A320, which carries 180 passengers and takes a flight time of 55 minutes.

The variety of services and facilities that Frankfurt Airport offers, particularly in the first class terminal, sets it apart from other airports and ensures that travelers can enjoy the most pleasant and exclusive travel experience possible.
