The tour is booming: 31% more winter guests for 2024/2025! A new travel hype!

The Dertour Group recorded an impressive increase in the number of guests in the 2024/2025 winter season. Compared to the previous year, the number of travelers increased by a remarkable 31 percent. This development was partly fueled by a rebalancing of guest volumes in the market, such as Mercury reported. In addition to this strong growth, Dertour expects an additional increase in guests of 22 percent for the coming winter season 2025/2026.

The most popular travel destinations last season were Spain, Egypt, Türkiye, Germany and Poland. Egypt, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates in particular recorded the strongest growth rates. A trend change can also be seen in the demand for individual trips, which has increased by 58 percent.

Hotel categories and travel duration

The choice of accommodation plays an important role in travel behavior. Around 34 percent of vacationers chose a 5-star hotel, while 51 percent chose 4-star accommodation. Only 15 percent preferred hotels in the 3-star category. The average journey time on long-haul routes remained stable at 13 days, while on medium-haul routes it was reduced by one day to 10 days.

The Dertour Group interprets the positive development within the tourism industry as an indicator of growing consumer confidence in the market. However, within an industry marked by challenges such as the bankruptcy of the third largest tour operator FTI in June 2024, Dertour is well positioned to meet demand. The positive figures and the planned expansion of the travel offering show that the group is willing to further expand diversity in order to meet guests' expectations.

For this winter season, Dertour has a large range of new destinations and an extensive range of experiences in store, which makes the company optimistic about the season. Meanwhile, demand for travel remains strong, the numbers show, and the industry continues to recover from the challenges of recent years.
