The best places for the sunset in Pushkar

we come to this short and crisp list of places where you can observe the sunset in Pushkar.

1. Savitri Temple

The Savitri Temple is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site and also one of the best places for sunsets in Pushkar. It is undoubtedly difficult to overlook this temple from almost everywhere in the holy oasis. It rests proudly on the pyramid-shaped Ratnagiri hill and offers visitors the opportunity to take the 200 steps to the summit or to take a quick ride on the cable car.

The path to the foot of the hill is simple and only takes a 10 to 15 minute walk from the lake.

2. The Pushkar-Ghats

Do you prefer a sunset place in Pushkar closer to the lake? How about going down to the ghats on the lake shore and observing the reflection of the Dies Thar desert sun that goes down behind the hills?

One of the best sunsets on the ghats is located on the southeastern corner of the lake, right next to the Jaipur Ghats. It is marked on Google Maps as a "Sunset Point".

You can often find many other travelers in this place, and some local hostels organize weekly hikes and meetings.

3. Sunset café

Usually my guides are aimed at adventurers who like to pursue hikes and viewpoints. However, I also understand that there are times when it is better to end the day with a sip of chai and laughter with good friends.

Although I have not tried them all, the best sunset café in Pushkar, which I looked at, is the "Hotel Sunset & Roof Top Restaurant", right behind the Jaipur Ghats and the sunset point mentioned above.

This café is a little more expensive than some of the street sellers, but they pay for the view. Another option is the nearby "Moksha Cafe", which also has a roof terrace and serves chai and Indian cuisine.

4. Gayatri-mata temple

Another less visited, but also impressive place for sunset is the Gayatri Mata or Pap Mochani Temple. This is another small temple on a hill right behind the bus stop in Pushkar.

This hill is not as high or steep as the Savitri temple, but is much closer to the city and offers an incomparable view of the Pushkar Lake and the extensive markets underneath.

The journey can be a bit confusing because there are some inaccurate Google Maps pins. Take a look at the instructions below to get a detailed directions.

where to stay in Pushkar - accommodation leader

With so many accommodation opportunities in Pushkar, I can understand the frustration when booking. When choosing, I recommend finding a place near the lake. This is because most activities in Pushkar are only a few minutes' walk from the lake. Since accommodations in Pushkar are plentiful and cheap, there is really little reason not to book a bed near the action.

Where I stayed: Madpackers Pushkar This hostel made my entire visit to Pushkar and the atmosphere fits the goal perfectly. It was awarded India in 2019 by Hostelworld for its atmosphere, three terraces, a chill area on the roof and a yoga/camping terrace as India's best hostel. In order to make things even better, dormitories cost about $ 6 per night. For me, this is a child's play and one that I can recommend without problems.

Private room with the best price-performance ratio: Varah Square Guest Houseine of the few accommodation opportunities in Pushkar without a negative assessment. Near the ghat with a view from the roof terrace on Pushkar and the surrounding mountains. Budget rooms only cost about $ 5 while you can get a deluxe room with a view for $ 2.
