Sekotong is a province in the southwest of Lombok with the highest tourist potential I have ever seen, especially in terms of Sekotong! Although Sekotong is largely unexplored by tourists who visit Lombok, it has some of the most untouched and diverse beaches on the island, including Elak Elak Beach, Mekaki Beach, Sekotong Beach and the incredible Gili Nanggu.

If you prefer empty, white sandy beaches and local warning overpriced cocktails and tourist advertisers, then you will definitely make your way to Sekotong.

The best SECOTong beaches

We spent a little more than a week in Sekotong, where we explored the coast with the motorcycle and made a two-day island shopping and camping trip to the islands of Gili Nanggu and Gili Kedis with Feel Lombok.

Since Sekotong does not have the tourist infrastructure of his surrounding coastacle barn, it is a little more difficult to get a motorcycle. For this reason, I would suggest spending the night in the Krisna Bungalows because you can rent a motorcycle for 60,000 Rupiah next door.

While it is certainly possible in Sekotong to rent a bike and explore the beaches yourself, you can also book a cheap private tour to all of these beaches online. This includes the collection and return of other popular Lombok areas.

1. Elak Elak-Strand

Elak Elak Beach, also referred to as Pantai Elak Elak in Bahasa, is an incredible white sandy beach on the north coast of Sekotong. It is located at a sharp coastal point with an adjacent sandbar and an open island.

To get here, it is only a short 15-minute scooter ride from the port of Sekotong. To get here, you only have to drive west on the paved coastal road until you see the turning sign to Elak Elak Beach. The PIN of Google Maps is called "Pantai Elak Elak".

As soon as you arrive, you undoubtedly have the entire beach in your own. The water is flat with a sandy floor that is perfect for swimming and chilling.

At low tide you can even walk through knee -high water to the small island of Gili Milu. From here you will be welcomed with a view of the beach of Elak Elak, the coast of Sekotong and some smaller sandbar islands in the distance.

2. Sekotong beach

Of course, a list of the best beaches in Sekotong would not be completely without the beach of the same name. The Sekotong Beach is a wide sandy beach on a quiet coast that is littered with local boats and occasional beach restaurants.

If you are looking for a quick place for swimming or relaxing, then Sekotong Beach is a good choice because you don't have to travel far to reach it. However, remember that long sections of this beach consist of hard rocks and corals. However, when you walk around, you will find several sections with soft sand for swimming.

3. Gili Nanggu

Gili Nanggu is a highlight for most visitors to Sekotong. To get here, you have to go on board an island hopping tour. You can arrange this from your accommodation in Sekotong or book online.

Gili Nanggu is known for his incredible snorkeling without the hectic Gili T-Vibes. Here you will find healthy corals and huge swarms of fish. The visit of Gili Nanggu is a must for everyone who is looking for the best beaches in Sekotong.

4. Mekaki beach

My personal favorite beach on Lombok is the Mekaki Beach. This is located on the south coast of Sekotong and requires a 30-minute scooter ride through the villages and mountain roads, from which the center of Sekotong consists.

Mekaki Beach stretches around Mekaki Bay and ends on a rugged cliff. You can easily spend hours exploring the beach, running from one end to the other and swimming in a clear, turquoise water. The sand is incredibly soft and there is even a pretty good surfbreak.

In my opinion, Mekaki Beach is the best if you only want to visit one of the best SeKOTong beaches! It is also available at a distance to another hidden gem: the Nambung Beach Waterfall, a salt water-waterfall phenomenon that is worth a visit!

Overnight in Sekotong

Because this reign is a bit hidden. In order to save money for transport, I would recommend that a few nights in this largely unexplored part of Lombok, Indonesia, stay to see the best things you can do. Here are my top tips for inexpensive accommodations.
