The best viewpoints at sunset in Jaipur

Here are the best viewpoints in Jaipur to enjoy the sunset in the Pink City!

1. Amer Fort

The most unbelievable Fort of Jaipur, Amer Fort, has a long history as a defense system for its historic Meena rulers and Rajput kings.

Today the Amer Fort is one of the most popular attractions and sights in Jaipur. It consists of spectacular ramparts, a number of seductive gates and arches as well as architecturally brilliant towers and courtyards.

But did you know that the Amer Fort also offers one of the best viewpoints in Jaipur to observe the sunset?

The trip from Jaipur to Amer takes about 20-25 minutes with the RiScha (200-250 rupees). So if you want to go to one of the many Amer continues or villas to observe the sunset in Jaipur, you should leave a little earlier.

2. Jaipur wall (Amer-Wall)

Opposite Amer Fort is one of the most photogenic walls that I met on my travels to India. It is known as a Jaipur wall or Amer wall. This sandstone wall stretches along the Aravalli mountains, which once offered the first life to defend against intruders.

Nowadays, the Jaipur wall is a popular sunset point in Jaipur for locals and travelers alike. I recommend climbing the wall shortly before sunset or sunrise and admiring the incredible view of the Thar desert from its many lookout towers.

3. Nahargarh fortress

Another outstanding fortress Jaipur is the powerful Fort Nahargarh. This fortress is located on the hills directly above the city of Jaipur and also has an impressive viewpoint on the wall.

In contrast to Amer Fort, you can go up the many stages to the Nahargarh Fort free of charge. However, you have to pay an entry fee if you want to explore the interior of the fortress.

To our luck, we are looking for the best viewpoints and sunset points in Jaipur. Therefore, the Nahargarh is one of the best because its walls and viewpoints are freely accessible and offer an incomparable view of the city of Jaipur from above.

4. Jal Mahal

The Jal Mahal or "Water Palace" is another epic attraction of Jaipur, which should definitely be on their list of sights in the city. While it is possible to make a boat tour to Jal Mahal to explore his interior, it is just as nice if you watch it from the shore of the lake.

The Jal Mahal is located on an island in MAN Sagar Lake, only 4 kilometers north of the City Palace on Amer Road (Street zum Amer). If you are looking for a great sunset in Jaipur, you should definitely go to Sagar Lake to enjoy an epic view of the Jal Mahal and his wonderful mountain backdrop.

5. Surya-Mandir

The Surya Mandir means "sun temple". It is therefore only fitting that it is also one of the best viewpoints in Jaipur to observe the sunset.

You will find this temple as part of the Temple complex Golda Ji, which is also on the same street, which leads to the sun temple (Surya Mandir).

This beautiful temple is located on a 200 meter high hill and offers an excellent viewpoint to observe the sunset in Jaipur above the city's skyline. This temple is somewhat away from the usual tourist hustle and bustle. So if you want to see Jaipur from a unique perspective, you should definitely go to this epic temple viewpoint!

6. Panna Meena Kund (step fountain of Jaipur)

This next point on my list of the best sunset points in Jaipur does not offer the same landscapes and backdrops as many of the others. However, the Jaipur Stepwell or Panna Meena Kund is a popular attraction that is located in Amer.

If you wanted to look at it, I strongly recommend that you go to the Jaipur Stepwell at sunset. This will help you to capture the best shadows and the light that is reflected by the symmetrical steps of the step fountain.

Otherwise, why not drive here about an hour before sunset in Jaipur, then climb the Jaipur wall to take the day with an incredible view of the fortress and the Aravalli mountains. Alt = "Jaipur Stepwell Panna Meena Ka Kund">

7. Bonus: hot air balloon experience in Jaipur

Okay, the last one is not really a viewpoint. However, if you are looking for the absolutely best prospects for the sunset in Jaipur, then you can really not beat a trip with the hot air balloon in Jaipur.

I recommend this adventure experience in Jaipur because the operators are among the best in India. If you choose, be sure to plan a sunrise or sunset via Jaipur and the incredible desert landscape behind it.
