Eintracht Frankfurt: Full speed towards the Champions League with a new squad!

Eintracht Frankfurt is about to start the DFB Cup on Sunday against upper division club FC Engers. This 2025/2026 season marks a new beginning for the Hessians after the two strikers Omar Marmoush, who moved to Manchester City, and Hugo Ekitiké, who went to Liverpool FC, are no longer part of the team. Although these departures bring financial benefits, they still reduce the team's sporting performance.

The primary goal for Eintracht is to qualify for the Champions League. In order to achieve this goal, the club has strengthened its squad with experienced Bundesliga players. The new additions include Jonathan Burkardt from Mainz 05 and Ritsu Doan from SC Freiburg. However, with the exception of Ekitiké and Tuta, who also left the club, the team remains largely together and is considered a well-rehearsed and defensive ensemble.

Tactical adjustments and challenges

Coach Dino Toppmöller plans to modify the team's offense. The aim is to reduce dependence on individual players in order to make attacks more variable and sophisticated. Another focus is on intensive pressing. Nevertheless, the defense showed weaknesses in the test matches, which indicates that a balance must be found between offense and defense.

Particularly critical voices are directed at the defense, which needs reinforcements - especially after Tuta left the club. Players such as Aurelio Buta, Hrvoje Smolcic and Mo Dahoud are currently on the sell list, which means additional strategic considerations for Eintracht.

Key players and prospects

One player highlighted as a key player for the coming season is Rasmus Kristensen. The Dane has attracted attention for his performances in the past and could play a significant role in Eintracht's success. Further newcomers such as Paxten Aaronson, Elias Baum, Jessic Ngankam and the players mentioned complement the squad, which has the potential to be considered a challenger for the Champions League places.

Eintracht is therefore not only required to show a solid performance in the cup, but at the same time the team should also keep an eye on the needs of the upcoming Bundesliga season. The fans can be curious to see how the team will perform under the new circumstances and whether coach Toppmöller's strategic changes will bear fruit.
