Exploration of the Jaipur wall near Amer Fort, Rajasthan
The Jaipur Wall is a stone wall that was built around Amer Fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Visitors can climb the wall to get an incredible view of the city of Jaipur, the Aravalli mountains, the Amber and the desert landscape of Rajasthani.
For those who visit Jaipur, the incredible Amer Fort (Amber Fort) is undoubtedly one of the top attractions of the city that you have to see. While the beautiful and fascinating historical Mogul-RajPut architecture of the fort itself is overwhelming, the "Jaipur wall" was the most underestimated attraction in Jaipur for me.
These many kilometers long stone wall, which is often referred to as "Amer Wall" or even "Great Wall of Amer", follow the rugged mountain struggles of the Aravalli mountains and served as the first line of defense for the Amer and the city of Jaipur Hundreds of years.
When I researched activities in Jaipur, I noticed that there were hundreds of excellent leaders to explore the fort, but not much information about the Jaipur wall. So if you are looking for the best view in Jaipur and the best place for sunset, go to Amer and climb the Jaipur wall!

Where is the Jaipur wall?
The Jaipur wall extends along the mountain combers next to the Amer Fort (Amber Fort), about 12 kilometers north of Jaipur Junction. Access to the Jaipur wall is right next to the fortress in Amer fortress, where some stairs lead up.
Since the Jaipur wall is also in Amer, it would be a good idea to visit the Fort in the day/afternoon and then climb the wall at sunset.
Arrival to Amer Fort
Since most people who visit Jaipur, spend the night somewhere near the Bani Park or the Pink City, they have to organize transport to get to Amer. There is a large parking lot and a bus stop directly opposite the entrance to the fort. Here you have to go to climb the wall.
Return to Jaipur is not a problem, as dozens of RiSchas and regular buses run near the entrance.
Transport options
Below I listed some standard options to get from Jaipur to Amer and to the wall.
rikscha: You can take a rickshaw that will bring you to Amer everywhere in Jaipur. Calculate around 200-250 rupees for the easy journey. Most RiScha drivers will probably try to persuade them to a tour as soon as they are there.
Uber: Uber to get from A to B is a good option for reliable and cheap transport. The cost of Jaipur to Amer is usually between 250 and 350 rupees for a simple journey.
Amer Fort tour with transfer: If you prefer a guided tour to the Amer Fort, this tour with RiScha transfer is a good choice for around 19 USD. This trip includes the pick -up/return trip from the hotel, an English -language tour guide in the fortress and a stopover at the famous step fountain of Panna Meena Ka.
bus to Amer Fort: There are regular buses that run from the Hawa Mahal in the old town. These cost only 15 rupees per route or 25 rupees for an air -conditioned bus. This is the best option for travelers with a small budget.
Rent a motorcycle: This is probably the least popular option for travelers in Jaipur. However, if you want to explore the forts on the outskirts, you can save some money by renting a motorcycle or scooter. Count on 300-400 rupees a day for the cheapest motorcycle rental.

Amer Fort has its name after the Ambika Temple or the Shiva Temple called Ambikeshwar. It is also a world cultural heritage.
About the Great Wall of Amer
The Rajput rulers built the architecturally brilliant; The "big wall of Amer" is said to serve as a line of defense for the Amer and the city in front of intruders. The construction of the fort and the wall began in 1592 by the then ruling Maharaja Man Singh.
It is not exactly known how long the wall is, since only 50 % of the wall is preserved after the best estimates. However, the Amer Wall is often referred to as the third longest wall of the world. So it lies behind Kumbhalgarh (also in Rajasthan) and of course behind the Chinese wall.
The wall follows the ridge of the mountains over Amer to create a convincing and impenetrable defense that has clearly survived the test of the time. The Jaipur wall was mainly built from stone blocks and also includes high watch towers in which guards looked for powers.

ascent of the Jaipur wall
Would you like the best view and the best sunset in Jaipur? The climbing of the Jaipur wall is by far the most overwhelming and most spectacular scenery that you can experience in the capital of Rajasthani.
Access to the staircase, which winds to the top of the Jaipur wall, is very easy to see from the continuation. The stairs are high. You have to climb some of them to get to the top. But trust me when I say it is worth it.
