Experience heroes up close: Interactive exhibition in the Aarau City Museum!

The interactive exhibition “loved, praised, hyped – about heroes, role models and idols” is currently taking place in the Aarau City Museum. This special exhibition will be on view until July 6, 2025 and attracts visitors with its wide range of topics and experiences. The exhibition highlights idols from various areas such as sports, showbiz and politics and questions the common stereotypical images of heroes in our society.

A central feature of the exhibition is the integration of artificial intelligence, which is available as an accompaniment in several languages, including Swiss German, German, French, Italian and English. This innovative technology allows visitors to experience personal adventure journeys and even learn their own Hero name. This makes the exhibition the first of its kind in Switzerland to use AI interactively.

Interactive experiences and special events

The exhibition offers a variety of interactive experiences, including a selfie station, a children's trail with puzzles and mini-games, and analog slide light panels. Visitors can also look forward to the AI functions that not only assign them superpowers and sidekicks, but also create individual adventure trips in the form of poems. At the end you take a souvenir photo home with you.

Several special events are planned for June as part of the exhibition. A lecture on artificial intelligence and deepfakes will be offered on June 25th. There will also be a guided tour with the popular cosplayer Florian on June 29th, which is very popular.

Accompanying foyer exhibition and opening times

In addition to the main exhibition, the city museum is presenting an accompanying foyer exhibition entitled “Kaboom – African Comics”, which can be seen until June 8th. The Ringier image archive, which includes over 7 million images, shows an impressive collection of home stories and images about everyday heroes and celebrities.

The opening hours of the city museum are Tuesday to Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum remains closed on Mondays. Entrance fees are CHF 8 for adults, CHF 5 for schoolchildren and students, while children up to 16 years of age have free entry.

The exhibition “loved, praised, hyped” not only offers an exciting insight into the world of idols, but also numerous activities for young and old. It stimulates discussion about the importance of role models in today's world and highlights the role of artificial intelligence in cultural communication.
