First dog trip from Matris Reisen: Vacation with Bello in the bus!
Matris Reisen, a Saarland bus tour company, is launching the first multi-day group trip with dogs in June 2025. Owner Anna Plasa would like to serve a gap in the market in Germany with this offer, inspired by her own experience with dogs and the successful idea of a colleague from Switzerland who already offers dog trips. “The demand is there,” says Plasa, who has over 20 years of experience in bus tourism and has continuously developed Matris Reisen.
The dogs travel securely in their own seat or in a transport box next to their owners. The first trip leads to the dog-friendly Maritim Hotel in Bad Wildungen. Regular breaks are planned in the itinerary to give the animals enough exercise. The ideal group size is 20 people and 20 dogs, with four-legged friends preferably sitting by the window.
Special requirements and offers
Certain requirements apply to take part in the trips. Dogs must have a valid rabies vaccination and an EU pet passport. Food must be brought by owners, while treats will be provided upon request. There is no mandatory program participation for the dogs; instead, walks and activities around the hotel are optional.
The response to the first dog trip is muted, but there are already many inquiries from interested customers. Plasa has heard concerns from dog fans, particularly about transport in the luggage compartment and possible commotion on the bus. In this regard, she is confident that the concept can be successful and relies on personal advice and information for the participants.
In times when vacationing with your beloved pet is becoming increasingly popular, the Matris Reisen initiative shows that there are increasingly offers for traveling with dogs in Germany. Those interested can also find further information about traveling with animals at fitreisen.de.
The first trip from Matris Reisen marks an exciting step in bus tourism and could potentially lay the foundation for further dog-friendly travel offers.
