Fröndenberger runners shine at the 36th women's run in Hamm!

Hamm, Deutschland - On May 20, 2025, the 36th women's run took place in Hamm under bright sunshine. The event was organized by the association for peace Hamm and attracted around 100 participants who faced sporting challenges in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The Hammer Frauenlauf is one of the oldest women's runs in Germany and is held every year on Saturday before Mother's Day in the Jahnstadion, which even increased its fame beyond the borders of Hamm. With the motto "Women to start", the event, which took place for the first time in May 1990, was created as a platform for women to do sports.

Among the participants were also two runners of VfL Fröndenberg, who were particularly committed to this year's edition of the run. Christin Camonita convinced with a time of 30:37 minutes over 5 km and secured the 3rd place in the W35 age group. Andrea Müller reached a time of 48:50 minutes on the 10 km route and was first in the W60 age group.

The run leads from Jahnstadion along the canal through the spa park, whereby the route is often praised by the participants. The 10 km route has to be run through twice. A minimum age of 14 years applies to the 10 km route and 10 years for the 5 km route. The women's run not only enjoys increasing interest, but also supports charitable organizations. Part of the entry fee flows to the "Pro Mamma" association, which is committed to early detection, treatment and aftercare of breast diseases.

The event is regularly accompanied by critical voices that express negative forecasts for future women's runs. Nevertheless, the constant participation shows that the popularity and importance of the women's run in the region is unbroken, and the possibility of running for women of all ages without pressure to perform, is estimated by many.
