On May 31, 2025, a significant ceremony was held in Lao Cai Province where Ngu Chi Son Peak was granted the status of a provincial-level scenic relic. This decision was announced by Nguyen Thi Hai Anh, director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at an official event. Among the participants were prominent guests such as Bui Quang Vinh, former Central Committee member and Minister of Planning and Investment, and Hau A Lenh, Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee. Numerous Lao Cai Province leaders and other guests were also present to celebrate Ngu Chi Son's new status.
Reaching a height of 2,858 meters, Ngu Chi Son peak is known for its majestic beauty and unique ecosystem. It attracts both domestic and foreign tourists and enriches Sa Pa's cultural heritage. With Decision No. 1478 of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee issued on May 12, 2025, the peak is officially recognized as a provincial monument.
Ceremony and art program
The ceremony also included the presentation of the certificate by Trinh Xuan Truong, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee. As part of this event, the art program “Sa Pa – the desire to rise” took place. It was divided into three parts: The first part, “Sa Pa's Hidden Beauty,” featured cultural performances by the Mong, Dao, Tay and Giay ethnic groups. The second part, “Sa Pa Transforms and Integrates,” discussed Sa Pa’s modernization process, while the third part, “Sa Pa’s Strive for Advancement,” presented emotional performances about the development goals up to 2030.
Artists who took part in the event included Anh Tho, Viet Hoan and the Provincial Ethnic Arts Troupe. The aim of the program was to recognize the contribution of leaders, party members, businesses and communities to the development of Sa Pa and to emphasize the ambitions to integrate Sa Pa internationally as a national tourism center.
