A short waterfall leader with everything you need to know to visit the Hogarth Falls in Strahan, Tasmania. Contains how you come here, what awaits you and photos of the waterfall to inspire your adventures.

There is so much to see and do on Tasmania's wild west coast, but the sad truth is that many miss it! If you have made it to this blog post, then congratulations, you will be happy!

In this travel guide I will highlight one of the many attractions on Tasmania's west coast; Hogarth Falls, near the municipality of Strahan. This is a beautiful forest waterfall that is very easily accessible and only requires a short but picturesque walk near the city.

Where is Hogarth Falls

A great thing about the Hogarth Fall, how easily this waterfall is accessible. Visitors will find the parking lot to the waterfall path only a few minutes by car from the Strahan ferry port in Long Bay. Below is the exact location of the waterfall car park, where you can start walking to the waterfall.

How do I get here

To get to the Hogarth Falls, you can either drive to the parking lot marked above or simply run from the harbor here. Follow the "Esplanade" around the curve, past Bay and Fish Co, and you will soon see a white spout fence. This is the ParkReserve known as the "People Park" and also the starting point for the short walk to the waterfalls.

Here you will also find a toilet block and even covered barbecues!

The Hogarth Falls Walk

Hiking route: 2.1 km back and forth
Duration: 45 minutes - 1 hour back
Height: n/a
Difficulty level: very simple

The Hogarth Falls Walk starts at People’s Park and is very well signposted and easy to navigate. In reality it is more of a city walk than a rainforest hike, but the beautiful natural environment will give you the feeling that you are deep in the tarkine. Here you will find many iconic Tasmanian trees, including Sassafras, myrtle and lederwood.

The hike is mostly flat and follows sections of wider, cleared paths and wooden walkways. After about 1 kilometer you have to climb a short, simple section before descending under the main waterfall at Hogarth Falls.

Hogarth Falls Tasmania

As soon as you descend the short wooden stairs, you can reach the foot of the upper level of the Hogarth Falls. This point is actually between the two Teirs, which means that they have a great view of the main waterfall and can even look down at the lower cascade behind them.

Overall, the Hogarth Falls are about 15 meters high, with the greatest case being the upper level. Hogarth Falls is a very picturesque waterfall that is definitely worth a short stop when you are in Strahan.

Although it is probably not recommended, I walked around the fence on the upper level to follow a short, leaked path to the top of the upper level. Here I managed to take a few additional shots of the waterfall from above.
