It is said to have been built in the early 1740s in Jodhpur by the Queen of the Queen of Maharaja Ababay Singh. What I found fascinating was the fact that the Jodhpur Stepwell was apparently buried for many years and was recently restored to his earlier shine.

How to get to Jodhpur Stepwell (Toorji Ka Jhalra)

The iodhpur Stepwell is only 350 meters from Clocktower Market (GHanta Ghar). Although the step fountain is so close to the central hub of Jodhpur, it can be a bit confusing to find the step fountain.

Actually, I knew that I wanted to visit this attraction before I arrived in Jodhpur, but in the end I happened to stumble. If you try to find the toorji Ka Jhalra step fountain, go from the clock tower market and insert Google Maps-Pin below.

Immediately after I arrived on a spontaneous detour on the Jodhpur Stepwell, I was surprised at how detailed and symmetrical the Stepwell architects worked.

The architects and designers built the Toorji Ka Jhalra from classic iodine-pure-Sandstein, which is popular in the old town. It also has similar diamond -shaped stages as other well -known step fountains in Rajasthan, like those in Jaipur.

The steps lead down to a very deep, cut -out basin, which once served as an important water source for people in Jodhpur.

I noticed that there was a local security guard who roamed the tips of the Jodhpur step fountain. However, it did not seem to disturb him that groups of children and teenagers jumped from the steps into the deep, cool water underneath. Red Bull even presented TOORJIS level fountain in 2019 at a cliff jump event!

While the Toorji Ka Jhalra is one of the many important historical monuments in Jodhpur, it makes me happy to see that the locals still enjoy the fountain in a similar way than it was built.

The times for the iodine step fountain run all day. Everyone can visit the Toorji Ka Jhalra at any time of the day, take photos and even go swimming - if they feel like it.

The Step Well Square in Jodhpur is the area where you can find the Stepwell iodhpur. Since he was renewed, cleared and restored, many shops, Restaurants and cafés have been shot out of the ground. The most popular café; The Stepwell Cafe is a place where visitors can see the community step well. Although I didn't check it, I noticed that it was almost full to the edge!
