Sound friendship: United Voices inspire in Linz!

Today, May 13, 2025, a special musical event is coming up. The choir United Voices, known as the jazz and pop choir of the Linz Music School, presents its new program entitled “That’s what Friends are for”. This concert, which focuses on friendship and cohesion, promises a fantastic evening for all music lovers.

With an impressive number of 100 voices and over 20 years of experience, the choir brings a diverse range of sounds to the stage. The operation is supported by four talented musicians and a choir director, Birgit Kubica, who has led the ensemble since September 2015. Each school year, United Voices rehearses at least one concert program, showcasing the energy of a large community.

Repertoire and rehearsals

The upcoming concert includes a successful mix of rock and pop songs, including well-known titles from the Beatles, Seiler & Speer and Disney's Aladdin. This diversity in the music selection is reflected not only in the upcoming program, but also in the choir's otherwise extensive repertoire, which includes gospel, jazz, soul, musicals and pop.

United Voices rehearses every Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Linz Music School in Prunerstift. An average of 120 singers come to rehearsals to practice together. Rehearsal materials such as sheet music, lyrics and recordings of vocal ranges are provided to members prior to rehearsals to facilitate practice and ensure everyone is up to speed.

Open to new talents

The choir, which represents both high and low vocal ranges, including high and low soprano as well as tenor and bass, is happy to welcome new members. The diversity of the repertoire not only attracts new talent, but also ensures that singing remains interesting for long-standing members.

The United Voices are not just a musical ensemble, but an example of the strength of community through music. The upcoming concerts, which will feature a mix of band performances and occasional a cappella performances, promise to be a highlight in the region's cultural calendar.
