Light art highlight: Manar Abu Dhabi shines in November 2025!

The Manar Abu Dhabi light art exhibition returns in November 2025 and promises a spectacular experience for art and culture enthusiasts. The second edition of the event will take place from November 15, 2025 to January 4, 2026 in the capital and the neighboring Al Ain region. Themed “The Light Compass,” the exhibition is led by Khai Hori, an experienced curator and former deputy director of artistic programs at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. His co-curators are Alia Zaal Lootah, Munira Al Sayegh and Mariam Alshehhi. PR Newswire reports that the exhibition takes place every two years and is now being expanded to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Al Ain for the first time.

The exhibition will present a total of 19 light installations, including both newly commissioned works as well as site-specific light sculptures, projections and immersive installations. Jubail Island will serve as the central venue, while the installations in Al Ain will explore the Al Qattara and Al Jimi oases and the surrounding desert terrain. These additions not only create a multicultural art offering, but also celebrate the emirate's diverse landscapes. Abu Dhabi Culture highlights that the exhibition aims to promote creativity and address the Gulf region's relationship with light in natural and technological forms.

Locations and programs

The light installations in Al Ain will be visible from November 1, 2025 and are part of the festival of traditional crafts. The installations will open in Abu Dhabi on November 15, 2025. Visitors can look forward to an extensive public program of lectures, workshops and performances that accompany the exhibition. The organization behind Manar Abu Dhabi is part of the Public Art Abu Dhabi initiative, which works to promote public art in the emirate.

The decision to relocate the exhibition to Al Ain and incorporate the oasis setting into the artworks reflects the desire to highlight the region's cultural diversity and heritage. Al Ain, known for its rich history and natural beauty, offers a different landscape than the coastal islands of Abu Dhabi. This makes Manar Abu Dhabi not only a highlight in the emirate's cultural calendar, but also a celebration of the uniqueness of the Emirates.

Further details about the artist line-up and accompanying program will be announced in the near future. Visitors can look forward to an inspiring and enlightening experience that celebrates the diverse facets of light art.
