Lufthansa pilot manages tricky landing in Dublin in strong winds!
Last Monday, May 29, 2025, an incident occurred that put the passengers of a Lufthansa flight from Munich to Dublin to an unforeseen test. A Lufthansa A320neo aircraft experienced considerable difficulties during the landing approach and ultimately had to initiate a go-around maneuver. Loud Mercury A crosswind of 20 knots was largely responsible for making the first landing almost impossible.
The flight, which lasted a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes, required the pilot to use the go-around procedure trained for such situations. This maneuver, known as “touch and go,” was completed successfully, allowing the pilot to make another attempt to land.
Successful landing after a difficult maneuver
After the first landing attempt failed, the pilot finally managed to land safely in Dublin on the second attempt. Lufthansa confirmed the incident upon request and emphasized that the safety of passengers is always its top priority. An impressive video of the maneuver was shared on social media, particularly Facebook, and reached over 230,000 views, reflecting the great interest in this extraordinary incident.
The Airbus A320neo is known for its modern comfort and is often used on short international routes. Nevertheless, the aircraft experienced considerable shaking on this particular landing approach due to the unfavorable weather conditions, particularly the strong crosswind. Although such challenges are rare, they do occur and demonstrate the importance of pilot training and experience.
Overall, following these turbulent events, the flight was uneventful and passengers were able to disembark safely upon arrival in Dublin.
