On June 11, 2025, an avid traveler applied for the American Express Platinum Card to experience an unforgettable trip to Barcelona. This credit card provided him with 75,000 Membership Rewards points that he can use for his travel. The main goal of the weekend trip is to experience football - and for this a flight from Hamburg to Barcelona was booked with Vueling, which cost a total of 15,000 Avios and 18,750 Membership Rewards points.
The traveler stayed in the luxurious Almanac Barcelona, a hotel that, among other things, qualifies for the Platinum Card's 200 euro travel credit. To further collect his Membership Rewards points, he purchased VIP tickets for the big football match between RCD Espanyol Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
Restaurant visit and credit
Another highlight of the trip was a visit to the renowned LomoAlto restaurant. Here the traveler could use the Platinum Card's restaurant credit, which amounts to 150 euros annually and can be redeemed in over 2,000 partner restaurants in more than 16 countries. To activate the credit, primary cardholders must register once through Amex Offers. Well-known partner restaurants include Nobelhart & Dirty in Berlin and Le Train Bleu in Paris.
The credit is redeemed automatically when paying in participating restaurants and is credited to the online card account within 7 to 10 working days. This represents an attractive way to earn additional savings while enjoying exquisite cuisines at the best restaurants in the world.
Transportation and future experiences
The traveler used the Sixt Ride credit for transport between the airport and the hotel, which gave him a discount of 25 euros on the journey. This meant he could not only make the trip even more budget-friendly, but also enjoy the convenience of the Platinum Card.
