Malimbu Hill is a coastal tip viewpoint in Lombok known as one of the best spots for Senggigi sunsets. The main hill is a grassy clearing with scattered palm trees and overlooks the ocean towards the Gili Islands.

How to get to Malimbu Hill (Bukit Malimbu)

When asked where the best Senggigi sunset viewing spot is, the answer you often get is Malimbu Hill. However, at first glance on Google, you may be a little confused as to where the actual location is.

The official Malimbu Hill is the highest point of the headland on the south side of Malimbu Beach. It is marked on Google Maps as Bukit Malimbu, which actually directly translates to “Malimbu Hill”. This is a wide parking lot on the curve overlooking the sea and Malimbu Beach.

However, on the other side of Malimbu Beach is another viewpoint known as both Malimbu Cliff and Malaka Hill. In my opinion, this hill, although not as high as the southern, official side, is an even better viewing spot as you can walk out onto the grassy, ​​palm-covered hill to watch the sunset.

I have marked both Senggigi sunset viewpoints on the map below to make it easier for you to find them. It should take about 15 minutes to drive here from Senggigi if you take the winding coastal road north.

Malimbu Hill Viewpoint

Once you arrive and park your motorcycle or car, you can step out onto the concrete path to enjoy sweeping views of the ocean and Malimbu Beach.

As this is the highest headland on the Senggigi Coast, it is a perfect place to watch the boats glide by and watch the sun disappear below the horizon.

There is also a family of monkeys living here in Bukit Malimbu. You can often find them from the lookout in the palm trees on the edge of the cliff.

Malimbu Cliff Viewpoint

On the north side of Malimbu Beach is the Malimbu Cliff. However, most people are actually referring to this viewpoint when they mention Malimbu Hill. In my opinion, this is the better viewpoint and probably my favorite sunset spot in Senggigi.

There is enough space to park both a car and a motorcycle. If you visit during sunset, you have to pay 2000 IDR to park your bike.

On the left you will see Malimbu Beach and the Malimbu Viewpoint. On the other side, you have a view of the spectacular Nipah Beach and the Gili Islands looming on the horizon.

Best sunset location in Senggigi – Palm Tree Hill

For the best sunset views, walk past the stalls and onto the grassy hill dotted with oddly speckled palm trees. This section of Malimbu HIll is mostly cleared and offers expansive ocean views. This is also a great place to take some iconic Senggigi sunset photos.

If you go down to the edge of the cliff there is a path that leads a little further down where you will find your own secluded area to watch the sunset.

MY ACCOMMODATION IN SENGGIGI: OYO 645 Green AsriIn Senggigi, I stayed in this small hotel with a pool, huge bathroom and TV for just $9 per night. I'm not sure if it was a low season special, but it's definitely the best value in Senggigi for this price. It's a little off the main beat, but definitely worth it. If you book here, don't miss Henry, the street vendor around the corner. He makes some of the best spiced coffees I've ever tasted and offers hotel-class meals for IDR 12,000.

CLIFF BEACH SUNSET VIEWS FOR UNDER $40: Pasific Beach Cottages If I had a higher budget in Senggigi, this is the place I would have booked. It is located on the coast near Senggigi Beach, where you can enjoy the views from your balcony or the pool. In terms of value, this is as good as you might find in all of Lombok.
