Xanten Senior Citizens Union explores Weserbergland – next trip planned!

After an eventful two-day trip to the Weserbergland, the members of the Xanten Senior Citizens' Union returned. The tour took them to interesting places such as Höxter, the Corvey World Heritage Site, Bad Driburg and the Hanseatic city of Warburg. The participants were enthusiastic about the eventful tours conducted by local guides. On the return journey, many expressed their desire to go on another trip together. This is already being realized in the form of a planned trip to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which will take place from August 31st to September 4th. The highlight of this trip will be the start in Röbern on Lake Müritz, where the group will circle this picturesque place.

The next stage takes travelers to the district town of Prenzlau in Brandenburg, accessible via the idyllic Uckermark and the German Alleenstraße. Xanten native Ludger Melters, who is professionally and politically active there, will warmly welcome the group. On this trip you also have the opportunity to take a trip to the historically important port city of Stettin in Poland, which is located on the Oder.

Tradition takes over the cuisine

To prepare for the upcoming trip, the Senior Citizens' Union invites you to a traditional asparagus dinner. This will take place on Thursday, June 12th, at 12 p.m. in the Landhaus Gietmann in Alpen-Veen. Interested guests are welcome and can register with Irmtraud Meuer on 02801/9571. Eating asparagus is not only a culinary highlight, but also a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas and share the anticipation of the upcoming trips.

A network for seniors

The CDU Senior Citizens' Union has various regional associations in Germany that take care of the concerns of the older generation. In North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, the cities of Höxter, Aachen and Duisburg are part of this comprehensive network. Each association helps to represent the interests and wishes of seniors and to offer a wide range of activities. The Xanten Senior Citizens' Union, as part of this nationwide organization, benefits from the rich experiences and the strong solidarity within this community. This enables members to plan and carry out active trips and events sensibly.

A report from Lower Rhine News supports this activity and offers further insights into the program items and goals of the Seniors Union. Also ECC study trips describes the comprehensive offers that are made to seniors in order to promote active participation in social life.
