nelson Falls is one of my personal favorite waterfalls in Tasmania. This epic forest waterfall is located cheaply near the Lyell Highway in the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and is a must for anyone who drives the picturesque route from Queenstown to Derwent Bridge.
In this short guide, I will inform you about everything you need to know about visiting Nelson Falls in Tasmania. I will add the journey, information about the short waterfall walk and photos of the waterfall.

Where is Nelson Falls?
nelson Falls can be reached via a short waterfall path directly on the Lyell Highway between Queenstown and Derwent Bridge. The waterfall route is 27 kilometers from Queenstown or 59 kilometers from Derwent Bridge.

How do I get here
nelson if it is quite easy to navigate. Since the parking lot is a direct exit on the Lyell Highway, it is really difficult to be wrong. If you want to get to the Nelson if you want to get from Queenstown or Strahan, you will be happy. This street leads over the famous 99 curves, past Iron Blow Lookout and the beautiful Lake Burbury, a beautifully maintained asphalt road through some of the most beautiful landscapes of Tasmania.

The parking lot on the waterfall is large enough for more than 20 vehicles and there is even a toilet block and a hidden information board.
Unfortunately, Nelson can only be reached by car, as there is no public transport. . However, if you do not have your own means of transport, there is still a lot to do in this region. I listed some of the best rated experiences in Tassies Wild West.

The hiking trail to the Nelson Falls is very well maintained and is suitable for families and even for the most untrained hikers. The route follows a wide wooden footbridge to the waterfall with an optional short loop through dense rainforest area.
At the Nelson Falls Walk, there is little to no slope or slope. The route follows the Nelson River, which is surrounded by magnificent moss-covered myrtle and sass afras trees. The Nelson Falls Nature Trail is a very short hiking trail, but very picturesque! Perfect for a short stopover on the long Lyell Highway.
The recommended walking time is about 45 minutes for the way back, but you can easily reach the waterfall in about 15 minutes. Apart from that, this waterfall is particularly epic and I bet you will spend a little more time to admire the scene and take a few pictures.

As soon as you have arrived at the end of the hiking trail, you will appear a few dozen meters from the waterfall on a large viewing platform. This is a great place to admire the scene.

The total height of the Nelson Falls is about 30 meters. It is a beautiful waterfall that pours over the sharp, black rocks. Dense forest frames the waterfall on all sides and creates a spectacular scene. You can find Nelson, if often on Tasmanian tourism brochures, television advertising and printed products in hotels and tourist offices on the west coast.
He is one of my personal favorite waterfalls in Tasmania and the short pit stop worth a hundred percent.
The current on the Nelson River is heavily rain -dependent. Therefore, the best time for a visit, like many other waterfalls in Tassie, in autumn and winter or after a big downpour.
