New cruise terminals opened on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura!

Global Ports Holding (GPH) has successfully opened three new cruise terminals in the Canary Islands, specifically Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. This important investment is part of a comprehensive plan to improve cruise infrastructure in the region. With a total investment volume of over 40 million euros, the new facilities are also intended to stimulate the local economy and promote sustainable tourism.

Two terminals have been inaugurated at the port of Arrecife in Lanzarote: the Naos terminal, with an area of 1,106 m², designed for transit and home port operations, and the Los Mármoles terminal, which covers an area of 556 m² and allows the handling of up to three cruise ships at the same time. In addition, a 426 m² satellite terminal is available for passengers and crew.

New port on Fuerteventura

A new cruise terminal with an area of 924 m² has opened in Fuerteventura, located close to the city center of Puerto del Rosario. This terminal has a modular design and includes both a dining area and an outdoor terrace, allowing passengers to have a comfortable stay.

The terminals in both cities were built with a focus on eco-efficient and sustainable construction. Equipped with solar panels and using environmentally friendly materials, they meet modern standards for energy efficiency.

Growth in the cruise sector

The port of Puerto del Rosario expects a 40% increase in cruise passengers in the first four months of 2025. The port of Arrecife, on the other hand, receives around 600,000 passengers annually and records over 250 cruise ship calls. The new cruise terminals are expected to welcome more than a million passengers annually.

Beatriz Calzada, President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, and Mehmet Kutman, Chairman and CEO of GPH, reported on the importance of these developments for tourism and the economic integration of the region. They stressed the importance of preserving the islands' natural beauty while strengthening the local economy.

The official opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Las Palmas Port Authority and other institutions, who underlined the comprehensive support for these projects. The new terminals are important not only for the cruise industry, but also for creating jobs and supporting local businesses.

The investments in cruise infrastructure in the Canary Islands are part of a broader vision of Global Ports Holding, which aims to significantly improve the guest experience and economic prospects on the islands.
