New milestone: TUI Cruises presents the Mein Schiff Flow”!
On June 2, 2025, Fincantieri celebrated the ceremonial launching of the new cruise ship “Mein Schiff Flow”. This ship represents the second new build in the Intuition class for TUI Cruises, which is a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises. The launch took place at the shipyard in Monfalcone, where, among others, Daniele Fanara (Fincantieri), Cristiano Bazzara (Monfalcone Plant Manager) and Wybcke Meier (CEO TUI Cruises) were present.
TUI Cruises has ordered two ships in this series, with “Mein Schiff Flow” being a sister ship to “Mein Schiff Relax”, which was delivered in February 2023. The focus of the new buildings is on energy efficiency in order to reduce operational consumption and minimize environmental impact. Delivery of the ship is scheduled for mid-2026.
Technical details and innovations
“My Ship Flow” has an impressive measurement of approximately 160,000 GT and a length of 333 meters. It can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers and 1,530 crew members. Special features of this ship are the dual-fuel propulsion, which can be operated with both marine gas oil (MGO) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). This future-oriented technology also enables the use of low-emission fuels such as bio- or E-LNG.
The cruise ship's engines generate a total of 60,000 kW (81,577 hp) and enable a service speed of 21.5 knots. In order to meet the strict environmental requirements, “Mein Schiff Flow” is equipped with catalytic converters that comply with the Euro 6 standard and a generator turbine that uses the residual heat from the diesel generators.
Environmentally friendly operating options
An additional advantage of the design is the shore power connection, which enables almost emission-free operation in port for around 40% of the operating time. Furthermore, the ship is equipped with a highly efficient waste treatment system that converts organic materials into recyclable components. These innovative technologies demonstrate Fincantieri and TUI Cruises' commitment to minimizing the ecological footprint of their fleet.
The launching of “Mein Schiff Flow” marks another important step in the sustainable development of the cruise industry. The collaboration between TUI Cruises and Fincantieri illustrates the efforts to integrate modern, safe and environmentally conscious ship architecture into the maritime future.
