Nordhorn is getting a new 4-star hotel with a wellness oasis and bike station!
On June 2, 2025, a tour of the new hotel project in Nordhorn took place, which was led by the managing partner of Hackmann Hotels GmbH & Co. KG, Wolfgang Hackmann. Members of the Economic and Tourism Committee (WTA) received insights into the construction progress and the planned facilities for the hotel. Hackmann, whose company is based in Meppen, operates a total of eight hotels in the region from Papenburg to Rhede, including the “Inside” in Nordhorn.
The planned hotel will have 80 rooms with a total of 160 beds and is aiming for a four-star classification. The rooms are designed to be spacious, with 10% of the rooms designed to be wheelchair and disabled accessible. This accessibility guarantee is intended to make the stay pleasant for all guests.
Wellness area and gastronomy
A special highlight of the new hotel will be the wellness area, which will be built in the attic. This not only offers a view of the train station area and the NINO building, but also includes three saunas and a large relaxation area. Guests can look forward to a wide range of wellness treatments. In addition, the wellness area will be made accessible to the public, which will also allow locals to access the services on offer.
Two restaurants will be set up in the dining area. One of them will serve as a breakfast hotel for hotel guests, but depending on occupancy it may also be open to the public. The second restaurant, “Marijas Restaurant”, will move its premises from Bad Bentheim to Nordhorn and will subsequently be leased.
Bicycle-friendly concept and sustainability
For cyclists, a bicycle parking facility with over 60 parking spaces, grab bars and charging options for e-bikes will be created on the ground floor. In this way, the hotel specifically addresses the needs of cyclists and is also aiming for certification by the ADFC for the “bed & bike” target group. The innovative use of a former underground shelter on the property for the hotel's building technology also shows the focus on sustainability and resource conservation.
Wolfgang Hackmann also announced that his children have joined the family business and plan to continue it in the next generation. Mayor Thomas Berling expressed his positive opinion about the progress of the project and thanked him for the insights that the visit provided. He emphasized the great importance of the new hotel for the city of Nordhorn and its economic development.
With the new hotel project, Hackmann Hotels wants to further strengthen its family atmosphere and the balance between modernity and tradition. The continuous improvement of hotel structures and digitalization are also reflected in the constant growth in the number of hotel rooms and in the expanded team structure.
For those interested in becoming part of this development, Hackmann Hotels is offering an invitation to guests and potential employees to become part of the family corporate culture. This commitment not only strengthens the brand, but also the entire region.
