In June 2025, the Hochsauerlandkreis reached a remarkable value in tourism statistics: with 1,373 overnight stays per 1,000 inhabitants, it ranks at the top in terms of tourism intensity in North Rhine-Westphalia. Höxter follows in second place with 799 overnight stays per 1,000 inhabitants, while Düsseldorf takes third place with 776 overnight stays. The cities of Remscheid (59), Bottrop (54) and Herne (39), which have the lowest values, are in significantly weaker positions.
